The 4th used to be my favorite holiday because I love fireworks. We would go to one of the reservations and pick up a ton of fireworks - candles, shells, etc. Sometimes we make our own. We had a good time every year, but it seems like most of my friends have grown out of it. They prefer drinking now. I don't drink and secretly still want to light fireworks but have no one to do it with :slightly_sad:
LOL I have those too dude. We just pretend they're lightsabers and 'fence' each other with them.
Are you able to move around freely yet? How is everything?

I still used my wheelchair at Comic-Con the beginning of June, but since then I've gone to just an ankle brace some of the time, and using nothing while at home unless I get really sore. Supposedly it's a 4-6month heal time before things are completely normal, so it's not unusual that it's still sore, kind of weak and occasionally still gets swollen but things are getting much closer to normal these days. I am finally walking around and getting back to normal errands and stuff.

If you can believe it, as soon as I was able to start driving again the AC died in my car, so now I still rely on everyone else to drive around just so we don't die in my car. That's not just a joking phrase either, it's been between 110-118f (43-48c) every day for the past month or so. No one wants to drive in a car with no AC here right now, it could actually get dangerous.

All in all, though, I'm quite happy with where things are right now. I like feeling useful in the house again, it was very hard for me to feel like I was taking advantage of everyone for my needs for just over 2mos straight.

On topic though, here we are for the long weekend -- we're making a themed pie (half strawberry half blueberry with the top crust looking like stars and stripes so it looks like a flag) along with smoked ribs, corn on the cob, homemade potato salad.. probably a few other items, but my daughter and I haven't finalized the menu just yet.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend - whether it's a holiday where you're from or not!! :)

It sucks in california because of safe and sane fireworks. To buy illegal fireworks you might get caught if it is a sting operation and you have to know someone that is legit.
