Hey everyone i'm happy to announce I received my Blade today! I will do my best to answer questions about it. Hopefully this thread gets some traction so we can use is as an information thread/comparison thread. Post pictures when you get your Blade etc. Let the games begin!

Thats the same HD i have Ready to POP in. What are you using to Clone your ssd?

You can clone or fresh install from the installed version of Windows. Just create a system image via Control Panel --> System Image Backup. Boot from the USB directly if you want to start fresh as the Razer system image recovery is loaded onto your new SSD. Boot from a Windows loadable USB or recovery USB to load the image if you want to clone. I went with the fresh image install myself. No issues, all Razer drivers and such were present upon bootup.

New Blade has some good scores. I am pleased so far. Edit: Even better score updated

I have a 2tb Samsung 970 Evo coming in tomorrow... there is some driver issues if you install a fresh windows 10. I think instead I will clone the 512gb drive to the 2tb to avoid issues. My windows seems to be running fine so far.

It has a slight whine to it but its much much less pronounced then the Blade 14.

Great score! best I got was 14630. I had to RMA myself due to faulty power supply (buzzing, and inconsistent power). So of course, had to RMA everything. Support was great btw, hope to have the new RB15 early next week.

If so i think i just might do a fresh install and go with windows 10 pro on the new Hard drive

This … no matter the brand, I always do a fresh install

Paragon drive or easeus. I actually am second guessing the cloning option and may try fresh install. If I'm unhappy with it I'll just clone my 512 since I'm not wiping it.

Add the free version of Macrium Reflect to that list 😉
Has anyone considered rolling back to Win10 1703? Any version above that makes both the Blade 14 2017 and AWA 13 R3 CPUs bounce all over the place. Temps rise and just seems to get worst. I run a pretty stripped down version on both laptops, with undervolt and Cortana uninstalled.

Love the design of the new 15. I’m hoping the Pro version will be a similar design. If that is the case and reviews are good I’m going to pick one up.

Not really that easy to just roll back if you don't have a restore point with 1703. Most people are stuck on a newer version.

Microsoft support helped roll back for me at no charge. They did this for both machines on separate occassions. Start a chat requesting to go back to 1703. Tell them your cpu clock is bouncing up and down. On both occassions they completed the process for me remotely.

How are the temps now?

With the same undervolt I am seeing temps about 10c less on average across the board. That is good enough for me to consider it a better machine...however I will still probably repaste with Thermal Grizzly.

That seems to be more of a major undertaking now a days.

When you repaste could you make a step by step picture tutorial for the newbies of the razer community? 🙂

Here's an older video, but you'll get some idea of the work needed

Its not for the faint of heart and/or the inexperienced

I don't have the issue on my Blade 2017, but I did a fresh install from the updated official MS Windows 10 ISO. I can't comment on the "update" path

Great news!!, if you re paste we will be happy to hear from you if they went further down.
I just placed an order for my Blade on Amazon (it's out of stock but whenever it comes back it will be shipped) just in case there are any issues with I can return it to Amazon and get a new one super fast. That and I wanted to get the 5% back with my Prime Card (Like $130) so that was also a significant factor. I can't wait for it to come in, I'm thinking it will be a batch 2 device so hopefully all the issues are not present with my model but time will tell.

Got my 2tb SSD in.. going to work on getting that up and running tonight as a fresh install and I'll let you guys know how I make out. Backup plan is to just clone my 512 drive to it. Cheers!

Snap! RMA went out yesterday for a power supply that sounded like bacon frying in a pan. Agree that support was incredibly helpful.

If anything, Razer seems to have mastered the art of the RMA.

Great speeds with the 970 Evo 2TB if anyone is interested a worth while buy!

Honestly changing the power settings from max performance to balanced is what did it. However I was still getting a lot of power limit throttling and even with the undervolt of -.145 I saw temps hit low 90s. It did make my performance a lot better and within spec that this hardware should be running, but I'm still hoping the other issues are resolved with my replacement.

Also there is no reason that at max performance power settings I should be hitting 100c on CPU thermals.

Hey … I am new to OC and thermal stuff. I hope to learn more from others. I am curious about the 100c thingy so I google and found this https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Impact-of-Temperature-on-Intel-CPU-Performance-606/ .

Now I am little confused … the article seems to say hitting 100c is pretty normal and can happen. Intel take cares of it from there.

Can some kind soul help me out here to confirm hitting 100c is normal?

My perspective is that Intel throttles the CPU once it hits 100c, and its not a pretty normal thing. I personally don't like seeing my temps approach that mark and in all my computers I've not had to deal with it. Heat is the enemy of electonrics and 100c is pretty darn hot.

Razer Blade is like Mountain bike, it always stays on dangerous area;) You need to know and maintain it well as well the track (games) that you’ll go through...And Macbook is city bike, anyone can use it:) Though I agree @DarthVader0 hitting 100 isn’t good, you need to maintain it to stay lower like max90.
Seems there are lot of concerns about the thermal issues on CPU instead of GPU, and people are getting different machines with different thermal issue. I am wandering if continue to manually drop the Max CPU in the windows battery power setting until making the temp drop to the 80 degrees, then what is the score now?

100c is the thermal limit for the 8750H as it is most Intel processors. It is where it will throttle so the temps drop below 100c. Anything over that is shut down point to avoid damaging the CPU (not that long periods at 95c won't also cause degradation of the CPU faster than normal).

The issue here is that most manufacturers will set their own thermal throttle point starting at say..90c.. or 85c, so it keeps the laptop from spiking too fast towards those 100c marks. Can a CPU operate up to those temps? Sure... is it great for it? Not fantastic no.. and will you get full speeds? Likely not.

How was the Fresh Install?

Fresh install went fine.. keep in mind that if you don't actually burn the ISO like the old days it will automatically install windows 10 Home not pro since that is what's already registered to the machine. If you want to buy a Pro CD key and fresh install you need to do it the old way vs using the media creation tool from windows. Aside from that keep in mind you will have zero drivers. The Blade 15 is very new.. so you may want to wait until Razer has a full driver set available before doing so to make it easier on you.
Can you tell us how the text is for word and other presentation software? I am on fence about waiting for the 4K touch. Many thanks!!!

Unless you are trying to be extra picky I think the text looks great. It's a good screen and one of the better 1080p panels I have seen on a laptop.
