  1. Does anyone have any experience with getting Arch on the Kaby Lake 2017 Razer Blade. If so do you have any suggestions? I am looking to purchase this laptop, as long as I can get Arch running on it.

  3. I purchased the UHD RBS earlier this year and have been running Arch on it exclusively from day one. I use it as my daily driver at work; here's my full neofetch output (minus the logo):

    OS: Arch Linux x86_64
    Model: Blade Stealth 2.04
    Kernel: 4.12.5-1-zen
    Uptime: 2 hours, 38 mins
    Packages: 1058
    Shell: bash 4.4.12
    Resolution: 1920x1080
    DE: GNOME
    WM: GNOME Shell
    WM Theme: Adwaita
    Theme: Adwaita [GTK2/3]
    Icons: Vivacious-Full-Dark-Graphite [GTK2/3]
    CPU: Intel i7-7500U (4) @ 3.500GHz
    GPU: Intel Integrated Graphics
    Memory: 2705MiB / 15940MiB

So far, I've had to deal with the following issues:
    • My first install used the "Hardened" kernel, but I started having issues so I reloaded with the Zen kernel and things are much smoother.
    • Wayland is great, but libinput support for the RBS touchpad is horrible. I've fallen back to Xorg and am using Synaptics with a custom config for palm detection, etc. This took a lot of reading on the Synaptics page on the Arch Wiki.
    • UHD support for Gnome apps is great, but beyond that it starts to get weird (e.g. GIMP, Audacity, etc.) so I'm running at 1080p. Since the pixel scaling is down exactly 4x, the resolution is native. If you're going to use an external monitor, I suggest either buying the HD version or running at 1080p.
    • Chroma features of the keyboard work great with Polychromatic (see below).
    • Webcam is iffy. Refer to the Arch Wiki (see below).
    • I'm using the default Intel graphics drivers and I'm able to play simple games. Recently I was playing Besiege without issue.
    • WiFi and Bluetooth work great.
    Some resources for you:
    Hope this helps.

  4. I'm running Manjaro on mine. Pretty much everything worked fine out of the box with a few caveats. There was a line added to the grub config to make the lid closing behavior work right. In manjaro settings -> Hardware configuration, I installed the bumblebee drivers and that lets you do optirun <program> or primusrun <program> to activate the GPU. The webcam isn't working but I don't care enough to try to fix it.
