I asked a question in the Keyboards forum and after one person answered a second person wrote:

"Please note that Insider is not a support forum and therefore I'm gonna close this thread now!"

Huh ! Am I not allowed to ask questions on these forums regarding my Razer keyboard ? If not what is the purpose of these forums ? I was not asking for official support but just hoping to get an answer from another knowledgeable person about my problem. Why would someone just close my thread for such a reason ?

Can you link to the thread so we know what question you're talking about?

Sometimes the moderators close the thread if they think that the question should have been sufficiently answered to the best knowledge of the community, and any deeper discussion would need to be handled by support.

I went back to look at a keyboard question I answered recently, and it was yours. So in this instance, what I said about your question being sufficiently answered by the community would be the reason. I know, and @Vaypron most likely saw, that it wasn't an actual support question, but any escalation of the question - from a lack of actual LED indicators on your keyboard - would definitely have fallen under the category of being a support issue. He and I both gave the response to seek help from Razer Support, and there was literally nothing that could have been added to the conversation without becoming support-related, or just fluff (which we try to stay away from on here).

It wasn't anything about your question, just the efficiency and sufficiency in the responses that prodded him to close the thread.

Just so you know, if you need to have a deeper discussion with anybody on here about anything (non-support related), feel free to click on their name and then start a conversation with that person.

    Hope this helps!

Agreed - the question appears to have already been sufficiently answered.

Yeah, you need to ask support that, because #1 probably nobody will be able to solve your problem, and #2 You will get a known and faster response contacting the support team.

OK, I just thought it strange that someone would say that a forum was not a support forum when I am sure many people ask questions hoping for answers from others.

Well, it is a support forum in a way. But not a technical support forum.

Hahahaha. It's a very common thing on here. The moderators say it (and then lock the threads), official Razer staff say it (and then lock the threads), and even the normal community members say it (but we can't lock the threads). Usually after we say it, a mod will come along and reiterate it and lock the thread. :)

    It serves two purposes:

    1) If there really is a problem with Razer hardware or software, Razer would rather have the issue sorted by their official Support team, rather than getting advice from somebody who might not have the correct information. That way, the person with issues can't complain about getting shoddy advice from their community forums AND they can make sure the person gets the best possible help.

    2) It helps keep the forums to their purpose . . . to let people discuss their AWESOME Razer gear, and let's face it, gear that has problems is not that awesome. We like to help in any way we can, but if Insider is opened up to support questions, then it will take forever for those of us who come on here every day to weed through all the support questions just to get to the fun discussions.

As everyone has already stated numerous times - Insider actually is not a support forum. It's a social gathering of like-minded people to share their experiences, have a way to hook up together and play games, ask questions about games, share their experiences regarding their Razer gear, give reviews about the stuff the own and generally just make friends and enjoy their time with each other.

Please keep in mind that even though our members are very intelligent and could potentially have good responses to support-related questions, they could very well be answers that aren't in line with how Razer wants things fixed based on their own software or hardware configurations. If you really do need help, it's best if you just go straight to those who have the answers and bypass common population. :)
