Chroma SDK seems to freeze up Razer Devices

  1. Hello!

I'm a relatively new Razer product user and I've been running into some unfortunate problems with my new razer equipment. Just give you some background, I use my laptop(ASUS ROG G751JT-CH71) to use the following:

    -Razer Blackwidow Chroma Tournament Edition
    -Razer DeathAdder Chroma
    -Razer Firefly Mouse Pad

Since receiving these products, I installed the music visualizer and would receive some freezing from my mouse/keyboard during use. The lights would still be working and the hardware would work once plugged back in again. The keys on both the keyboard and mouse would stop moving and the cursor for the mouse would become unresponsive. I uninstalled Razer SDK and haven't had any more issues, but the reason why I bought these products was to use the SDK in the first place. Is there anything I can do, or are there any fixes to my problem? I love the lights on my razer chroma equipment, and the lights are very important to me.

    Thank you all,
  2. Thanks for this! I'm reporting this to the core team right now and will swing back with more details once I have em.

    Hang on tight.
  3. I have SDK uninstalled at the moment. Please let me know if you have any suggestions :)

Interesting find dude, I had issues with my Orbweaver freezing after my computer went to sleep for a while. Upon waking up, my Orbweaver lighting would freeze and sometimes the keys also freeze but not all the time, profile auto switch is also not working. After I uninstall all razer drivers and software to do a reinstall, I found that I havent run into any of those issues, until I install SDK, now that I saw your post I do notice SOMETIMES my keyboard and mouse and all razer devices would occasionally disconnect and reconnect after a second or two and the lighting would turn off and back on as if they were really disconnected from the USB ports. Very strange indeed. Never happened before, it seems SDK causes random buggy errors that has to do with lighting freezing, device freezing, profile switching unresponsive, and occasionally USB port disconnection. Even when I contact razer they dont know what is causing it, but I guess we can narrow it down to SDK or something along that line.

  6. I do have this with my keyboard, it sometimes stays black and i have to replug it, but that just randomly happens when changing too much :S
  7. Hey! I'll like to get more information to try and figure out the exact root cause.

Could you try downloading Synapse, plug all your devices and update everything to the latest version.

Do not try the Music Visualizer but any other game integration such as CS:GO, Overwatch or DOTA2. Do you still experience the same issue?
  8. I've tried the other installation and had no other problem(GameDog etc.)

Like one of the other people here posted, it seems to occur when the colors change too frequently and rapidly. If the color change is slow, there isn't any problem that seems to occur. I guess I just can't use the Music Visualizer :slightly_sad:

Thanks for providing that feedback. We've noticed those issues too when developing our apps, so most developers try not to spam the keyboard, but for the visualiser effect to work in time with the music, it needs to be as real-time as possible.

Razer will look into preventing the SDK from locking up, but the reason your keyboard and mouse freeze up completely (as in not being able to use them) is due to a CPU spike making your computer unresponsive.
  10. A CPU spike? That's weird, I never have CPU problems. My CPU's an i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz... Hmm... Is that not enough?
