When I first got my blade I was turned off by that as well, but after a few months of using it, it just becomes muscle memory and you remember where the correct buttons are 90% of the time. It would have been nice for the functions to be backlight though. I think usability outweighs that part of the asthetics.

I'm starting to get there. It's just a slow process. But, with how much I type on my laptop for school I'm sure it will become muscle memory like you say. But, when I make a mistake and I need to check the keyboard to make sure I know what key I need to press and I can't see it, I have to wonder if they honestly tested the keyboard before saying it was the final revision. But, seeing this is the worst thing I can say about my unit I think I can safely say I'm happy. :cool_:

I believe this weird bug is not only happen on the Blade, my 4 years old Acer laptop also have the same problem. Should be something on the Windows side :wink_:

Interesting. I haven't run into this problem before so I wasn't sure if it was unique to the Blade or the Windows. I've been trying to get into the habit of closing the lid of my laptop if I'm going to be walking away from it for any period of time. So this seems to eliminate the problem. ;)

What would you change about it then, if you could?

I had the same problem remembering the volume and the brightness keys. I just ran them different colors in Chroma. Red for volume and blue for brightness.

That's actually a really good idea! I'll do that on my blade when I get it !

There's nothing that would rise to the level of returning it, but a couple of things:

    - The speakers are really weak, and one (right) seems to be failing. Laptop speakers are...laptop speakers, but still not impressed. My Krakens are fantastic, though.
    - Based on posts here, I'd say my unit runs hot (double entendre intended). I have a stand for airflow, but I haven't taken the step of trying a cooling stand, though I may.
    - Probably the most annoying (and QC-relevant) issue is small bumps on the spacebar, trackpad and to the right of the trackpad. The best way I can describe it is it's like my Blade is cold and has goosebumps. My uneducated guess would be that this particular model got a little too much heat during production, though the bumps are somewhat localized to the bottom/bottom-right of the laptop.

I have other small complaints, though they're more design oriented rather than physical problems with the computer itself, which I think is what the thread is about. So flawless? Nope. But defective? Hardly.

My Stealth appears to be flawless so far. I have had it for nearly a month and have had no issues. Last week I received the Core and over the weekend got it hooked up and played some Paragon. Everything operates as I believe it should be.

My 2016 v1 Blade 14 seemed to be flawless when I first got it 3 months ago. Everything ran perfect, I tested everything that everyone found wrong with their models and I didn't have any issues.

When I moved in to college, using an external monitor, I found that my Blade 14 has a very strange defective HDMI port. I had read about people with HDMI issues on the 2016 v1, and they had RMA'd their units. I never tested it. By now, I've learned that when I plug my Blade into my monitor, half the time it works and the other half the time the monitor screen just flashes like its turning on and off, for maybe 20 minutes before it starts working. So I'm going to try and replace the laptop soon. I want to replace it with the 2016 Blade v2, with the 1060, but I won't until I find out how the battery life in that model is. It sounds like @Ridha got a bad battery, so I hope.

So excluding that weird issue, my 201 v1 is a stunning machine and I absolutely love it.

The battery should be better. The gpu is more power efficient. Also pick the 1080p version if you want to save even more battery.

@TheGurgeMan want the QHD+ version, since I have one now I don't think I could go back it's too nice :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Also, battery isn't as big a deal as long as I'm getting at least 5-6 hours like I do on my current Blade.

I know the battery is supposed to be better, the gpu is immensely more power efficient. So logically we should get even better battery life than we currently do with or 2016 v1 Blades right? But the only account of battery life on the 2016 v2 Blade that I have is @Ridha 's and someone else on his other thread who also said they got around 3 hours, which is a major turn off.

P.S. Very sorry to hear about your blade falling off your couch. I would have died.

I find it interesting when users complain about only the main letter/number/symbol lighting up on the keyboard. Most computer keyboards with backlighting have just that, light that escapes from the side of the keys (like Mac books) where you can barely see the main keys. Sure, it'd be nice to have the proper symbols illuminate when you press the shift key, but you can't control the lighting the way the keycap is designed.

Ranting aside: thank you OP for making this thread. It seems the issues I've had are:
    1. When connecting to a KVM switch with an HDMI to VGA adapter, sometimes the monitor loses signal. I have to unplug and re-plug the adapter for it to work again. This could happen several times a day.
    2. Since the native resolution of the Blade is different than the native resolution of the monitor, my desktop icons get rearranged every time I plug in the monitor. Whether I re-arrange the icons or not, the icons get scrambled after I disconnect the monitor. As this happens over half the week, it was extremely frustrating. I finally found a program called Nimi that let me keep files in place "on the desktop." However, as I use git bash to navigate to files, it's an annoying 3 extra folders I have to navigate through to get to anything. I'm going to remove Nimi, hide desktop icons, and just pin everything to start menu.
    3. Kraken Mobile: worked with the 3.5 mm combo port on Blade at first. When it stopped working, I called Razer support a few times. Each agent would tell me to tell with my phone (with worked), so they told me to RMA my Blade. After an hour, I got the Blade to work with the Kraken. After a week, the Blade would not recognize the mic on the Kraken even though the headset worked just fine on my phone...I gave up calling Razer support. Check Insider and noticed another guy's Blade and Kraken stopped working...I wanted to reach out on Insider, but was worried about getting banned for bring up a support issue. I don't use the Kraken's anymore.
    4. With my Blade, I noticed that my Orochi on wireless mode with intermittently stop working for several seconds. This happens while I'm using it so it's not a 15 minute sleep-inducing mode. I don't know, I had to RMA one Orochi already, and I now use this mouse at work, school, and home, so I'm not about to be without a mouse for a couple of weeks. (Currently suffering Carpal Tunnel and RSI and Orochi is the only mouse I can use atm without a lot of pain and would rather carry it with me than purchase a second at the moment.)
    5. Hibernate is unreliable half the time. Often, I'll have to pack up and go to class/lunch and want to leave my files open for the 40 minute commute, so I'll hibernate my computer. Half the time, my computer couldn't boot up, so I'd lose all the open files (I save my documents, but sometimes it's open browser tabs one of my classmates wants me to review and I didn't want to bookmark and remove a bunch of tabs.) I have turned off hybrid start because a) it took so long to shut down b) you're not saving any speed with a PCIe SSD. Still, not sure if it was a Win 10 thing or if Razer's version of Win 10 had some stability issues.
That's all I can think of so far...if anyone knows how to fix the above issues, I'd be ever so grateful.

A question to those who upgraded to Win 10 Pro: was your version of Windows still "Razer-configured" or does it look like the "Standard" Windows 10 Pro? I know Razer "optimized" Win 10 home to work best with the laptop and peripherals, but Pro has some features that I use and am wondering if I'd be loosing out by upgrading.

    That is. . .clever. lol.

I'm starting to get used it it now. Did some documents using my laptop and it wasn't as bad as it was last week. Fewer mistakes. It still pops into my head as to why they did this since their last keyboard before revising it had the alternate functions illuminated. What's really odd to me is they didn't even use white to make the icons stand out a little bit. They used a Dark Grey color. Even in a dim light room it's hard for me to see them. There honestly has to be even light in the room that the backlighting is redundant. All for a cleaner look I guess. :frown_:

There is a fix for #2. Upgrade to windows 10 anniversary edition. It fixes the desktop scaling problems. My programs are no longer bloated on my 1080p monitor, the icons seem to be percentage based now, not pixel based.

I also have the same problem as you with number 3. My kraken pros do not work with my blade.
It will play sound, but not take mic imput. It worked for a week (like you said) then straight out stopped working. I bought a usb kraken chroma so that I could have a workimg mic, and that worked fine. The old kraken pros work fine with my phone, tablet, and other 3 laptops scattered around my family. Its just the blade thay will not in any way take mic input. For me it was a lost cause. I never new anyone else was having the same problem, this should get looked into.

Other, really. The bluetooth is pretty terrible (I am tipping that might be a universal issue rather than a specific one) and my down arrow key is loose. Other than that, no issues.

Which blade do you have, the 2016 v1 or v2? On my v1 I havnt had a bluetooth problem with it. I was at college and left my laptop in my backpack playing music and went down 3 floors in an elevator before my music cut off, reminding me that I forgot my stuff. I havnt gotten any random drops, and it always connects immeditally.

It's maybe a little bit too soon to tell but so far so good (512 Gb FHD model), I had some issues with the mouse acting all jerky and Windows hanging from time to time but I also had a couple of updates since then and now, everything seems to be fine =)
Though, I don't know about the battery life, today it held for around 6 hours while constantly downloading and installing games and updates at minimum brightness (which is good enough for me in the office) no battery saver mode on and a couple of restart for the updates as well as showing off the chroma keyboard to a couple of colleagues several times during the day. Windows doesn't give me any battery life estimates but I guess I might pull off a whole day at work if I were to put it in sleep while not using it (which wasn't the case today as I wanted to keep download the games)

Let's hope it stays that way (I'm going to wait at least a week before voting to make sure I don't have any problem arising soon.

There's an obvious quality loss on the Stealth* (compared to connecting via BT to my iPhone, I mean), and even a delay (thus throwing out lip-sync). I mean it works, but it's not nice; that's why I am thinking it is endemic rather than specific.

*I just realised I am talking about the RBS in the RB thread. Well done me.

@Gahu That's the 2016 v2 FHD with the GTX 1060, and you got 6 hours? If this is correct, that's immensely relieving, it means that a lot of people on @Ridha 's other thread just got bad models. Let us know how gaming is with the 1060, if the fps runs high when plugged in and lesser when on battery, like it should.

@Styna @TheGurgeMan The only issue I've experienced that you listed is the second one. I have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, I've had it since it came out, and that issue still happens. I only started using a monitor about a month ago, and it doesn't happen every time. But maybe half the time I disconnect my monitor, it scrambles the icon on my desktop.
