My opinion is unpopular. I hate the clicking of mechanical keys. It's loud and annoying. :slightly_sad: (Typed from a mechanical keyboard)

Actually, you'll see that at least here on Insider, your opinion is not at all unpopular: POLL: Which mechanical switch type(s) do you prefer?

According to this, the silent stealth switches are more popular.

I wasn't sure if I would be ok with the noise when I ordered the BlackWidow Chroma...I used to quite like my really old[school] IBM mechanical keyboard. I don't like it, and now it's too late. :slightly_sad: I'm hoping the O-rings will help a little with the noise level.

Oh no...did you at least get the Stealth version? The Stealth version + O-rings are very quiet!

Came from using a laptop, so still using membrane. Considered mechanical, but worried that the sound is too loud...

you can always buy the stealth version as well as buy o-ring and put them in to reduce to noise.

I used to love my membrane keyboard, but now that I've got a mechanical one, I've fallen in love with it.
It's definitely preference, but I feel that since mechanical keyboards take more money to manufacture and such, you should at least expect better performance from that over a cheaper membrane keyboard, under nearly any circumstance.

It's not as loud as you may think.

Do try clicky keys if you ever get the chance for a week or so.

You might actually turn out liking it (like myself). :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I didn't think much of it until recently but I think I would like to try the mechanical keyboards as others have said it is a lot more responsive

Go stealth and silence them with clear o-rings. That's the most pro advice you'll ever hear so I expect you to act on it, gogo!
  19. I have a cherry red keyboard and i love the feel but its almost too loud for me. Looking at getting some o rings to quiet the keys when bottoming out but im worried about it affecting the backlighting

Lol if Reds are too loud for you...don't ever even think about switching to blues.

I might have just the thing for you. Get something like this or similar to solve that backlight occlusion problem:
