New Blackwidow Chroma + Synapse update = Key Light Problem

  1. Just got this thing, literally unboxed a couple of hours ago. All the lights were working.

Then I launch Synapse and it does an update and now I have two keys that won't light properly. One won't light at all, the other won't light certain colors (including the color it was successfully lit up as when unit powered up: green).

I'd like to think it's a software problem, but the one key that won't light certain colors has me scared. I also noticed that when it started an entire column of keys were displaying in colors different from the rest.

Yes, I played around with the configurator in an effort to diagnose/solve this. Explicitly assigning colors to the affected keys doesn't achieve anything.

    What is going on here?

    And...

I can get this keyboard replaced by the retailer I purchased from, but if it's a software problem then the same thing happens again, yes?

    And...

Everybody keeps talking about firmware updates, well, I've been all over the support page and used Google, etc., and I can find no such thing on the site! I see lots of comments about how their units failed after applying firmware updates though, so... maybe this is a good thing? Was the firmware update taken down because it was flaky?

It is otherwise a fine keyboard so far but paying the price I have I gotta have it working 100%.

@dw1901 Razer Insider is not a support forum and we don't really have any support to offer you. The best way to resolve hardware/software issues is to make sure that the unit is registered with Razer either through the website or through the Synapse software then to contact Razer Support with your issues and let them try to resolve it for you.

  6. No, I'm pretty sure the best way to resolve this is to get my money back, which I've already done.

The hardware looks to be good, but the software being put out is abysmal. Not wasting any more of my time on Razer.

    Have a nice day.
