I was thinking about getting the new kraken 7.1 usb headset, i'm just not sure if a usb headset is bad. my current headset has gotten usb, and its HORRIBLE! There is always a background hissing static noise when no music or dound is playing, and I can hear everything that goes thorugh my mic, that is annoying because when you use the mic through usb then I can hear the beeping noises that it makes. So my question is: Is there any static or background noise in the kraken 7.1 usb headset, or is it really good and quiet.

Do take into consideration the quality of your current headset.. if it's a cheap generic brand USB headset, of course it'll have problems!

A friend of mine has the Kraken 7.1, and doesn't hear any static/mic feedback.

When you buy Razer, you buy quality.

With Synapse 2 in use my Kraken Chroma 7.1 gives no background noise / static at all.

are you 100% sure that there is no background static? if so, then how do i get razer synapse 2 and not the 1.18

1.18 is version 1.18 from Synapse 2, i have the same version.
As for the background noise / static i don't hear a thing, seeing that other people do sometimes hear static it might just be my setup that removes it 100%.

I was thinking about getting a Razer tiamat 7.1 headset, but im not sure if its worth it if i havent gotten a soundcard. I have the asus z97-a motherboard and I would love to know if the tiamat has a constant background static because of usb or if the sound will still be good quality without a soundcard. And I have heard that they are horrible and i have heard that they are good, im so confused! should i buy them or should i stay away from them and buy the kraken pro instead?

ok i have the usb 7.1 kraken and yes there is a small amount of white noise, but what i notice no one saying is that it is only there if you turn the equalizer sliders up across the board a good bit (to increase max volume) if you leave the equalizer sliders at either default or at appropriate levels (so not all maxed out or all raise to the same exact level to increase volume) there is no white noise.
the bit of white noise is basically the same kind of effect as if you run a waveform through DSP suite or a pre-amp sound processor it raises the gain on the audio so the minute bit of line noise that normally cant be heard at all then has it's amplitude raised up to the point of it now being noticable.

I owned the Kraken 7.1 Chroma and there was definitely white noise/ background noise. It was extremely quiet. I handed them off to my brother because he bought a Chroma set and was missing the headphones. So now I have a Corsair H2100 and I have also noticed the background noise. The noise is unnoticeable when you listen to something. I initially thought it was caused by software for surround sound (Synapse) but on my H2100, I can disable Dolby surround sound and there would still be background noise. For synapse, I think I recall uninstalling it and the background noise was still there. It may just be my computer but some people have this issue too.

I have the Kraken 7.1 USB, I've had it for about a year, and sometimes this is very very quiet white noise when no audio is playing, but as soon as something starts playing it goes away

I was wondering if the razer kraken pro supported 7.1 surround. or does it not have any surround features at all. I really want a good surround headset, please leave any sugestions below. I know that you can do something in the razer surround program, but is it good? or should i buy the razer kraken 7.1?

I know that i misspelled kraken in the title.

My my, you have a lot of questions :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You can always use Razer Surround to turn any stereo headset into a virtual 7.1 surround sound headset.

It's pretty damn good. I do hear a difference when Surround is turned on/off. I definitely prefer to have Surround on; it allows for a wider and more accurate sound stage.
