So, mine FINALLY arrived! I plugged it in, went to update my stealth and. . . . .

won't power up. it wanted to update thunderbolt and then some message about thunderbolt may disconnect [it did] and now it just clicks.

    Here's the kicker:

I have a desktop PC with Thunderbolt 3. I figured. . why not, what's the worst that could happen!

And now I know: I haven't gamed on it to test, but it works FLAWLESSLY with my desktop.

Now i'm gonna have to pull the 1080 out and replace the 780ti in the core. . and see how it works. At least I'll have comparison benchmarks with the desktop.

I know that people here generally seem to favor Nvidia, but just out of curiosity, was anybody planning on putting AMD's new RX480 in their Core when it comes out?

Also, FedEx has literally taken 3 days to move my Core 4 miles, and it's still not getting delivered until Thursday ._.

For the record, I fixed my issue by [seems like a no brainer all of a sudden] CONNECTING TO MY EXTERNAL MONITOR!

The stealth recognized the core as soon as the display port calbe slid in ><

    /facepalm

AMD co-announced the technology behind the Core with Razer, so their cards will work just fine. Many here favor nVidia because they have the best performance, although at a higher price.

Considering how much the Core cost I figured I'd get more out of it with a 1070 (and the launch timing worked out better). If I had a desktop with multiple slots I'd consider an RX480 in SLI, but with a single slot it doesn't make sense. Depends on what you're playing and the resolution you're shooting for, though.

  8. Setting her up now ;) I may have left my stealth on all night to download some games that I wanted to try out :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I need half battery now ;(

  9. Similar thing happening to me, live just outside NYC and Fedex estimated delivery this Thursday, but that thing was on some non-stop trucks since it made it to New Jersey Sunday night at 10:05, and now no updates all of Monday or this morning, feel they realized it moved too fast and are slowing it down :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Hopefully they'll still deliver a day early on Wednesday like they sometimes do :)

So, after spending a little bit of time with Mr. The Core, I thought I'd throw out a few things that may help y'all when yours shows up:

    1) Make sure you have an external monitor connected during setup.
    2) The GTX 780ti makes everything REALLY REALLY cranky: Like freezes during boot/BSOD when you unplug TB3 connector cranky. Maybe it's just mine? /shrug.
    3) turn off "Link state power management" in advanced power options. I just spent the last hour tracking this down. . . No lag whatsoever in games, but had moderate lag on desktop/opening the windows menu [win 10]. Disabling this resolved.

Next step is to see if I can get it functioning properly with my gigabyte Z170x Gaming 7 Mobo. . . everything detects but it says "not enough resources". . . I suspect this has to do with lack of switchable graphics on desktop solutions. I really REALLY want to get this going, however, to see if there's a difference between core performance on a full desktop VS a laptop.

I ordered mine last night, on 6/27 around 11pm. What's the expected delivery date?

Have you tried turning off the laptop display?

Showing only on monitor 2, lid is closed. Games run fine, but windows desktop is sluggish, and I can't full screen YouTube vides [screen goes black, restores when escape out of full screen]

update: It's a driver issue. I rolled back one revision and the desktop is fine, though Chrome becomes sluggish. Full screen youtube in chrome works, but audio is un-sync'd from video.

Re-updated to current, the sluggishness comes back, chrome isn't sluggish but can no longer maximize youtube.

  16. Definitely noticed a difference on certain CPU intensive games. I have a i7-3820 @4.0 GHz in my desktop (and OC'd 1080) and when running CSGO for example, desktop gets 200 fps on highest settings with 4k DSR, but with stealth (iirc 3.1 GHz in turbo D:) and 4k native it gets around 30. th 4k display also causes some problems with VR making most games unplayable if you use the display window in fullscreen but is fixed but making the window very tiny :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: .. Other than that, I'm loving it. Haven't tried a lot of games on it yet but GTA which I heard was cpu intensive ran 1920x1080 @ 60fps with all of the settings maxed when I started it up so I'm happy about that :)

Edit: I had power management on high performance when I did the csgo test which I have noticed for whatever reason kills performance. I was getting poor performance in audioshield on my vive and switched it to balanced and was able to play mostly smooth while in almost fullscreen. Anyone else get this? I tried setting the power mode to it's default settings in case I had accidentally messed with them but it didn't help. Might see if there's much of a difference on csgo later.

I don't have my core yet but with the built in gtx 970m I don't really any issue with having the PC in balanced or high performance mode.

    It's
Unfortunately, while I can get the core to interface with my desktop no problem, the GPU keeps coming up with "not enough resources" in device manager. I'm guessing that this is because on an issue with the motherboard/lack of current support by Gigabyte [not entirely unanticipated]
