I like that you can see the metal construction of the keyboard. The lighting is a bit lack luster though. Maybe they could of included a white back plate that you could lay under the keys as a option to make the chroma lighting look brighter. Sure some one modding will provide a tutorial on how to make you own soon.:big_grin_: Also I use the usb on the keyboard frequently for thumb drives, and a lot of review videos praise razer for having this feature, so it will be a missed since its not included on the "X". I think i prefer the original black widow chroma over the "X" since it has all the bell and whistles minus the metal surface.

I'm still wondering if i should return my blackwidow chroma and get the X, but the lighting holds me.
I'm waiting a video of the keyboard in a dark room so i can see if its only the letters lighted.

    Here you go.

I can't timestamp it through this, but check 4:40.
Not 100% completely in the dark, but hope it helps somewhat.

Oh, i can see that only the letters are lighted, i mean seriously?
Did you notice any difference of the switches over the original blackwidow chroma?

I was excited that I could buy Razer for my next keyboard but I can't since I have to call them outof some BS that still hasn't addressed
    1. "Cherry's, they've been around 20+ years"
The Cherry MX Red (2008), MX Blue (2007) and MX Silent (2015) have not. Considering Cherry MX have been FIELD-TESTED in INDUSTRIAL machines for 20+ years while still releasing modifications just like Razer/Kailh and their switches "designed ground up for gaming" . I've even saw a Youtuber sponsored by Razer who was using a Coolermaster Cherry MX keyboard under his Razer Chroma keyboard since it couldn't keep up with his osu games and such so how is it designed from the ground up for gaming?

    2. "Razer mech switches were designed ground up for gaming"
Uh... No it hasn't. It's based on Cherry's '20+ years old' design. You made it activate 0.3mm faster.

    3. "world’s first gaming mechanical keyboard in 2010, the Razer BlackWidow."
Let's just completely disregard the Steelkeys (Steelseries) 6G released in 2007. That'll do it!

    4. "That much said, we've also since moved to our own dedicated manufacturing (I believe we're the only gaming keyboard company to do that) for our switches and control it end to end."
This is no different from what you've been saying for ages. Just because you have your own dedicated lines at Kailh/Greetech/whatever, doesn't change the fact that the switches are manufactured using Kailh/Greetech equipment and is subject to the same issues that appear on those switches.

I could go on about some of the even smaller things but then it'll sound that I'm being too harsh, I don't want to be harsh but I don't feel respected by buying things that aren't they are advertised are.

  6. This better come to me in one piece in the UK but i cant wait to mess around with it. Already own the Razer DeathStalker EGK version but its chiclet keyboard and its not the best for gaming.

Seems like Razer just can't make all of their Chroma products without any fixed accents. Pretty disappointing that the status lights are stuck at green.

I guess removing the plate will allow more lights to show. Good stuff. I don't really understand the 10 dollar difference between both model. If Razer is aiming for a lower tier product, I think is better to remove more component of the keyboard to make it a deeper discount to distinguish the models.

I think this keyboard started out great but then just when to *Poop emoji* when they decided how expensive it should be...

At what price did you want a Chroma enabled peripheral to be? It can't be the same price as the BlackWidow X Ultimate.

True true but I wish all razer products where a bit less expensive since they all seem really inflated for no reason in my opinion.

This new setup looks really good... Are there any plans for the release of a stealth version?
