What kind of Ram do you have?
Also, buying a water CPU cooler would be a waste if you don't OC your CPU (you didn't specify which model do you have).

what generation of i5 do you have? there are a ton of i5 processors out there, but knowing the generation helps

the 970 is still a decent GPU, so upgrading your cpu and ram might be the better option

Does your CPU model have K on it?
I mean, if you don't understand PCs that much, you probably won't be OCing...
Core i5 is a whole series of CPUs.

Do you have DDR3 or DDR4 RAM? What frequency is it running on? How much GB do you have?

Do you have a solid state hard drive yet? That'd be a simple but big upgrade if you don't have one yet.

Download a program like https://www.piriform.com/speccy to find your specific models and keep track of temperatures.

What runs hot, how hot does it get, what country are you in, and what do you need an upgrade to do that you're unable to do now?

So then you might want to just upgrade your cpu cooling and get a lower wattage/TDP graphics card like a 1050 ti. What is your computer case? The best cooling available is a Noctua but it's huge. :D

Yup, as above - what is you computer case...or do you ever cleaned your PC from dust etc.?
There could be few things that PC is overheating: dust, no good airflow in case or old thermalpaste, that dried - and need a replacement.

Check your temperatures on Speccy app or HWINFO64 - and post temps on idle and while gaming.

Ivé purchased HyperX Fury 16GB Ram and a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD
    +CPu cooler (Intel core i5 4690 3.50)
