I'm new to the gaming scene and would like to know what graphics card I would get the most value out of for the Razer Core?

Also, is this a good time to get a graphics card or is there an expectation for a new release that will shift the price down of the current releases?

    Thanks!

  2. Wait, theres an other option?

I'm planning to get a GeForce 970. I have a second one on my Desktop I can use for SLI once I upgrade either the core or my gaming rig.

I've been eyeballing the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB card on amazon.

isn't nvidia about to launch the 1000 series cards, if so then the 980 should drop in price

They're supposed to announce them soon. They are not set to launch till later this year.
I might go GTX 970 route as well. Or wait till the end of the year and use my spare Radeon 7870 till then.

I love AMD products, but Invidia seems like the logical route right now. That is unless the new 400 series cards are what AMD is claiming.

That would be amazing... might happen too, since I'm not purchasing anytime soon.

In waiting for the Pascal before I buy a core. Right now I would go with the NVIDIA 980 TI. It's slightly slower than the Titan X but the speed difference isn't large enough to warrant a price jump that high. On another note, can you install liquid cooling inside the Core?

Do you think liquid cooling would even be necessary? It doesn't seem like an external enclosure with only a GPU and PSU would have any thermal issues.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think there is enough room... but I'm sure it is doable with a bit of modifications.

    Is that even possible?

GTX 980 Ti. Has plenty of single-GPU grunt.

I wouldn't expect the prices to drop significantly. The channel will dry up and the parts will be replaced with the next generation.

AMD's being coy about Polaris. They've teased a GTX 950 equivalent, but that's about it. nVidia's been quiet about Pascal/Big Pascal. If you buy now you'll more than likely get six to nine months of use out of a card before it's outclassed, and even after that it'll stay usable for quite a while.

So far my Gigabyte G1 GTX970 has served me well. Truly a value for your buck if you are tight in budget.

Go for something like a GTX 960 or r9 380. Both cards are super cheap and have really good performance.

I personally own a GTX 960 that I got for 90$ slightly used from a friend. So I would suggest checking around on Ebay and what not before pulling the trigger.

  17. Why would you buy a core and a 960? A blade on its own can do that.

I was thinking about the Stealth.

  19. Then you might as well buy a blade.

As soon as NVIDIA make an announcement on April 5th the prices will drop, even if the new GPUs aren't available until June.
