Last Summer I bought a wood lock for 85 bucks and it work well. It seems China had the best and worst product, but need to choose very carefully. The 140 millions population make either very poor population and very rich one are both huge and need supply. You can try “Osoel Locks” if you need passcode door lock.

What I feel is, the worst product in China is feeding local poor people and meanwhile export to Africa. And some very best product selling to rich domestic Chinese and meanwhile export to developed countries like USA or EU.

Why in China? Because it's cheap. Even for our companies in PL - it's easier & cheaper to buy some China product (including taxes & shipping cost), than develop & produce it locally. But unfortunatelly mostly PL "companies" are imporing very poor quality products, and just stick their "logo".

I don't say, that everything in China is low quality - if you pay more $$$, you'll get better quality - simple.

Our life nowadays is mostly made in China;) We can’t living, gaming, computing etc without it. But buy only trusted and well known brands for premium product, like Razer Blade, Dell xps or MacBook Pro etc:) They’re all made in China, don’t buy xiaomi laptops. Source: my experience;)

Effectively, we buy chinese products because often they are cheaper than our's country sell.
And if the price is low, it's possible that the quality will go according to how much you've spent (not everytime).
Each country has it's package of good and bad stuff, that's our job to seek for information about what we'll buy.

Probably I'll never buy a Xiaomi laptop or even Huawei (yes, they produced some). But on the other side - Xiaomi has really good smartphones (great quality/value), with MIUI custom ROM.

Well-known brand doesn't equate to premium product.

China has made pretty big moves towards improving industry standards and more importantly the safety (lead paint and radioactive steel anyone) of their products. China is also making a shift to making middle and high end products while casting off low end cheap goods to SE Asia and Africa. Brands like Xiaomi and Huawei are example of China trying to push into higher end markets and compete with more established brands. I'm sure some greedy American company in an effort to save some will use a brand like ZTE or Huawei for company work phones/laptops knowing damn good and well they are probably compromised devices. But hey short term profit margins, needy shareholders, and good old fashion greed mean cost must be cut at all...well cost.

Huawei already made huge leaps with the camera on their newest smartphones. There will always be an Asian better than you. Even though it's very stereotypical, I find that to be very true. I believe Huawei and Xiaomi will definitely blow companies, like Apple, out of the water.
