So I was browsing the forums and looking at profiles, and thought of a great idea. We currently have a few post and like related achievements, as well as titles such as New Member, Member, Active member, etc. I thought we could add a whole bunch of achievements to the current ones, and make some of them unlock a title. For example, a achievement with title could be:
Beta Tester: Take part in the Razer Comms beta.

For this to fully work, we would also need to be able to choose what title we want displayed below our name. Down below, I would like to hear what you guys think, as well as some achievement/title ideas.

Current Ideas (Names subject to change):
Early Bird: Take part in the close beta of Razer Insider
Beta Tester: Help Razer out with a beta test of Comms
One Year Old: Be a member for 1 year (I really hope we last that long and more!)
Bookworm: Read through 1,000 posts. (is there a way to measure this?)

It's a neat idea, and could certainly lead to some people feeling an increased level of community investment. If it doesn't create a system of haves and have-nots, I am all for it.

That would be the issue I am worried about. It could become a big game of "Ooo I';m better cause I got this achievement..."
However, I think we are all mature and can keep from bragging about cool achievements.

It would be interesting if they added something like that. I really don't think people are going to be like "I am better because I have .....". At least I have never really met someone that thinks that way.
  5. Only concern I can think of
    Good idea!

Would be an interesting idea. Something to keep us all motivated to keep coming back.

I like the idea! I believe the Community Managers are working on a new system so this may be included. But we just have to see how the Mods see this. Would be interesting for this to be implemented.

In terms of the example, "Beta Tester - Participate in the Razer Comms beta"
I think that some of the achievements will be like this which will therefore REQUIRE a RazerID but I have a feeling it's no issue to the devs of Insider as 90% of everyone here has already linked their ID.

I'm not sure how to answer that - it's an interesting concept, but I am very skeptical of how people would respond and might perceive it as more of a class / ranking system. I love being around here and I truly adore helping people out .. but it's a little awkward to have people always commenting on it or pointing it out.:oops:

I just think we should all be motivated to participate and help others because it's who we are and we want the community to be better - not because we're working towards some kind of goal.

However, that being said, I really do like the idea of having title notes that show us beta testers and such because then when we answer questions it gives a little extra credibility. hehehe :)

But ultimately, I'm not sure how to respond to the poll. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I think theses titles would be great, because there are different things to achieve.
Right now it´s just one possible achievement street to ride on...
With Beta Tester etc. there are more ways to be helpful to the community and to show this.

So it´s not like I am better than you, but: wow, you are helping the community in a totally different way than me, I respect you for that balblabla...

Because right now the silent Beta testers don´t get the recognition they deserve, just because they don´t post that much - even tough they may know way more than most of us.

My conclusion: Stepping away from just rewarding posting to other alternatives

as stated before, it is a cool idea, but I feel it would just make people do things to get the titles to be cool and hip, rather than "earn" the titles. cool idea though :)

    I would never though xD

    Title suggestion:

"Actually searches for and reads threads before posting/creating a thread" :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

as someone mentioned in another thread, there are ways to measure how much people actually read in forums - I will look for the thread again and then insert it here.

    Search successful: Thread
    The mentioned Website: Here

I just read through the whole article on reading vs. posting and thought it was really interesting. I have to agree with what he said, as I am one of the 10%. I haven't posted that much, but I've been here since the first group of the closed beta and read almost every post.

And that´s the reason something like this would be great. Just imagine having the achievement: read all 2,800 posts in the original Nabu thread. Let´s see what happens.

    Btw. Banana ;)

@SeanMP as it was his idea

I don't even want to know how many posts were all about the Nabu ... because, I have read them all ... and every other post ever posted on the entire board from the beginning... even the stuff prior to when I was invited in. Damn OCD -- I **NEED** everything to be "marked read" ... so I have to go through and read everything to do that. lol
