Q: Can I download the Android Oreo 8.1 Developer Preview on my Razer Phone via OTA?

A: Yes. Download and follow the steps in https://developer.razer.com/razer-phone-dev-tools/factory-images to reload your device with the factory images.

Q: I bought my Razer Phone from 3 retail store, can I still try out this Android Oreo 8.1 Developer Preview

A: Yes, however some carrier-specific features such as VoLTE, enhanced voicemail and Wi-Fi calling may not work.

Will doing this void the warranty on the phone despite it coming from a Razer thread and promoted by Razer?

They said that they would release Android 8 in Q1. This is 8.1, worth the wait in my eyes.

    What are the dates for Razer's Q1, anyway? A lot of companies don't follow Jan-March = Q1, Apr-Jun = Q2, etc...

So what is the difference on Oreo? Can it also perform iOS similarly touch keyboard interface like forced touch similar thing on typing or browsing? (It would be nice to have mouse pointer when typing). Razer phone is great but typing experience isn't as good as my iPhone yet, and screen responsive on typing is also not as smooth as iPhone... maybe I've to just get used to it. First problem I can't emptying the battery!! Out of the box it was only a bit remain like 30%, trying game, surfing etc on it almost 4 hours, hell it still remains;)

technically, they did. Sure, it's beta, but it's oreo. I don't have an issue waiting 2-4 weeks considering they are jumping to 8.1 instead of going to 8.0. And you know people would have complained if they just released 8.0 instead of going to 8.1.

The software support has ended for nextbit Robin. Why don't you folks make it official @Razer.WolfPack.

It’s already announced last year, it’s only until last February. Btw you’re on wrong thread.

Support was till Feb'18 but no update was delivered, we are left with all the potential vulnerabilities. We are at April 2017 patch. Razer is just a gold digger company, it doesn't care about the users and makes false commitments it can't deliver. Atleast they should have delivered the Feb 2018 patch.

Are you using google play protect? If you worried about security, use it till they release the patch or any update for Robin, even firmware update on Blade Systems usually it takes a bit time. Idk much about Android, never thinking about this things on my old iOS. I’m also using...still 7.1.1 btw, i heard 8 comes on Q1 but seems becoming early Q2, but mostly I use it for gaming and entertainment nothing with payments etc, i think iOS play better on security things.

Wrong thread... and also, when the word "support" is used, it doesn't mean you get the latest and greatest software, especially when a company buys out another. They could have just killed it off when they bought nextbit. Even companies like Samsung and Asus don't fully support all of their devices software wise. I have a couple of "low end" devices from both that never received any kind of update since release. No security patches, latest version of Android, etc.

They said support would be till that date but never said an actual update would be release in feb did they? And what exactly would they add? If it's just security you want go flash lineage cause a month after the last update you'll all still bitch about it anyway.

Every phone ends support eventually it's what happens in the android world. At least the robin has good lineage support so go flash that and be happy you have that choice.

Major bugs that prevented the phone from being used.... and again.... wrong thread. There is a nexbit subfortum here https://insider.razer.com/index.php?forums/nextbit/ which mentions that support ended last July. Posting in the thread for the razer phone's oreo release is pointless. If you have an issue, email support and nag at them. It took me 2 clicks to find that subforum for you and everything is mentioned in the announcements thread there.
