A happy owner of a Razer Blade 14`` (2013). I thought about buying the 2015 version. But it "only" supports HDMI 1.4a. Is there any specific reason why Razer is not focusing on 2.0? I want to switch to a 4K montior, but as long as there is no HDMI 2.0 I am not able to~ (>60Hz) Could be something for the Razer Blade 2016 ;D

    Regards

Hdmi 1.4a is the spec supported by the Intel Haswell CPU at this time. In order to maximize battery life of the product, we use a technology that allows the CPU to drive the displays when not running intensive content.

That's an interesting point. But as a customer of yours for years, I'd like to recommend that if they are plugging HDMI in they are probably charging also. and in '16 4k is going to be even more a popular thing. So 2.0 will be necesary.

If the Blade is using the onboard HD4000, I am ok with a 4k 30 FPS support.
But If I launch a graphics intensive game and the GTX 765M kicks in, 4k 60 FPS would be possible, since the port supports it.

The HDMI source needs to be designed in the hardware.
Either the Intel video output is chosen and allows switching between the Intel GPU and Nvidia GPU for rendering (with the limitations of hdmi 1.4a) or the Nvidia video output is chosen and the Nvidia GPU is always running when attached to HDMI (and therefore supports 2.0).

The port has to be hard wired to one gpu
