OK, silly question, but how do I turn it off?

I absolutley love my new Blackwidow chroma TE, but I get up this morning and find it glowing while my PC is turned off...The only thing I can find inthe settings is to slide the dimmer all the way to off and the option to "turn off when display is off" does not seem to work...

Yes I've only had it one day and have yet to get into the meat of the software and set it up but I'm not sure it I like to glow 24/7.

lol that's strange , should not be.
That means that you Rig is still taking power and this is really bad for hardware and for costs.

I would look if only your keyboard is getting power or something, because then you should look up to change Power supply or MB .

Go into Synapse, make a new profile, go into editor and set all of the keys to black.
But your computer should be able to handle a keyboard whats your power supply's wattage?

Honestly, I doubt the issue here is with synapse. You should check your BIOS to see if there is some option to keep USB powered on when the PC is off. I think if you have an ASUS motherboard it should be something like 'USB 3.0 Battery Charging Support' and you can just turn it off.
I hope that helped, that's what fixed it for me :D

My razer anansi and tartarus do that too.

This is a problem with your motherboard, if you boot up and head into the BIOS, there should be an option that prevents power from going through your USB ports after you have turned off your computer.

I use to have the same problem, but all computers are extremely weird. Some computers have certain USB ports powered and some not after you power down, which is extremely weird; oh well. Like I said, poke around in your BIOS and disable the USB ports after you power down, this should fix everything.

    Many things you can do:
    • Synapse
    • Look to see if there is a button on the keyboard that can trigger lights
    • BiOS
    • Unplug

Thanks for the replies people, and apologies for not responding sooner. The power supply is a brand new Corsair CX500 and the MOBO is an MSI 970 Gaming, so it's not a power supply issue.

I'm going to go with the BIOS settings suggestion and check into that aspect.

Upon further investigation and for clarification purposes, the lights on the keyboard DO initially turn off along with the display and case fans and everything else upon a power shut-off, but if you tap a key, it lights back up, indicating power still active to the USB port...I'll check the BIOS setting and get back to y'all on it.

Thanks again. As I type this on my new keyboard I love it all the more....

Well alright...No option in the bios to power off the USB ports at shut down..As stated earlier, the keyboard initially shuts down with everything else but if you hit any key, it lights up. If you unplug it from the port and plug it back in, or switch ports the phenomena ceases, and it's really off from that point.

By all other indicators, it's a normal shutdown/power off, with nothing to show that power is on anywhere other than this issue. Newer build, no issues ever. As a matter of fact I don't think this box has ever so much as locked up or glitched out in any way.

I updated to win 10 and do not have this issue, I had it at w8. I remember having to shut down an option in my BIOS. I heard a friend of mine say it mattered if you had the USB inserted before / after booting your pc. It might be bs (and it probably is), but it's always worth checking it out.

It's not a Windows 10 issue.. lol.. It's an option in your BIOS. It's a way to charge a phone/tablet when the PC is off. -_-"

A quick fix for this would be to unplug the mouse, and then plug it back in.

Yeah it's down to your computers motherboard whether it provides power when it is turned off, and whether or not there's an option to modify this.

Mine powers the ports after it is shut down, so I too have this 'problem'. Though it does mean that my Naga Epic Chroma charges when my computer is off, which is nice.

Also I usually turn the power off at the wall when I'm going to be away from my computer for any length of time (e.g. while I'm at work, or asleep), so it doesn't generally bother me that much.

Sometimes, USB ports will keep providing power when the computer is off or asleep. Usually, this is an advertising feature for charging your phone or whatever from your PC.

I would read your computer's instruction manual to see if this is the case, and if there's a port that doesn't have this issue.

Some motherboard manufacturers will sometimes include an app that will turn it on or off. I know that ASUS offers this for certain devices. I would check if your manufacturer released something like this.

I know that if something falls on or taps one of the keys during the night, it will wake the keyboard up.
