Is this normal for the Blade 14? Why am I getting GPU No Load limit in heaven? I get that GPU Power limit is normal but this doesn't seem right. This was observed when I've fixed the camera on a still scene in Heaven Benchmark (to get consistent load), but it also happens in real games like BF1 / COD. My 1060 has +180 on the core, no TS, EC fix applied, no CPU load, killer network suite uninstalled, external 1080p monitor connected (problem persists even without external monitor)
It's been a while since I posted here but I just wanted to update you guys. My replacement unit has been stable so far and I've settled on a CPU UV (-130mv) and GPU OC (+150/+300) values. With this setup, I am able to hit 9.5K in Firestrike consistently and my CPU & GPU temps will hit a max average of 75c. I'm so far very happy with the laptop. I use it everywhere including at work and client meetings. Yes, it's expensive but IMHO if it lasts more than 2-3 years, then I say it's worth it. I do need something to protect the wrist area. Since the body is aluminum, it gets cold and it aggravates my sweaty palm I bought the dbrand skins but haven't applied them and they don't have wrist pads. Also, there's some watch vs laptop action that happened earlier... and my watch won Now, a small corner area on my blade is now lighter than the rest...
@fleas2016 What are you using to undervolt the CPU? That's awesome to hear, I too am extremely happy with mine and use it everywhere. I LOVE the cold aluminum feel Very sorry to hear about your watch
I have seen many people here complain about CPU throttling, but my problem is GPU power throttling! I don't know why, but my card does not want to push past 1012mhz before it starts to ramp down. Things I have tried: -updated drivers for Nvidia -Nvidia Control - Power management set to performance -Intel - Power set to max performance -Synapse - Cool mode - changed the socket where I plug in my laptop (also, not using a multi-plug thing). Any advice?
Set max CPU power to 99%, It prevent turbo boost and CPU throttling and with it GPU throttling. For me it works. (Sry I did not read previous post so I don't know if I missed something) But it shouldn't be stuck at 1012 MHz until the temp are not high than 80°
I will try that tonight. Thanks for the tip! But the thing is really odd. So sometimes it does not want to push past 999-1012mhz in benchmarking like Furmark, and the chart for Power limit in EVGA keeps going up and down, indicating it reaches a power bottleneck. HOWEVER, when I OC by 215mhz (my stable so far), in DOOM it allows the clock to go to 2012mhz, even though the graph still shows power limit issues. And i get around 7-10fps more (both max and min). So it does power throttle, somtimes even with the GPU on idle (fixed with a reboot), but the gains in game are real... Razer has yet to reply to my ticket on this.
On reddit, Volicarebear suggested to disable ASPM in Bios to get better performance out of the GTX1060, and amazingly enough my firestrike score went up from 9270 to 9560 with no OC. I have no idea what ASPM does, but it definitely made a big difference in the firestrike score.
Haven´t noticed any difference yet....I am monitoring the discharge rate now, so far so good considering the dramatic performance increase.
Wow! Disabling ASPM in the BIOS improved my FS score from 9758 to 10,016! http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/18449847?
great to hear @Fhoxh that it worked for you as well. I haven´t noticed any differences with temperatures and such, have you?
After a OC +150/200 I got 10122....wow. Graphics Score 12232. Before I got 9861. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/18453009? Max Cpu temp 76 C and max Nvidia temp 71 C.
Which Blade do you have? It is hard to compare scores on this forum since no one mentions if they ran the Firestrike test at FHD or QHD resolution. I have the QHD one, and my best is 9,642, using native resolution. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11931748 However, one observation I made about OC-ing the GPU is that while I can run stable at 200/400, my Physics score improves if I use 200/200. It seems that the card may be lacking enough power to properly run such a high OC. So always check if the card is actually reaching the proper top speed with higher OCs.
@Hubris555 , I have the FHD skylake model....the post really wasn´t meant for comparison between machines....just that disabling ASPM in the Bios did wonders to the graphics score in firestrike. It seems that your physics score is coming in a bit low....should be able to get 9600 or so...I think. I do have mine undervolted though, -150mV. However, even without UV, my physics score would be in the 9600 range.
Yeah, I have no idea what is happening with my Physics score... I really don't know what setting to change to make it increase, or what is causing it to be so low always.
This tweak is already excellent, my old qhd+ one couldn't even hit 9300 on firestrike score. Nice to know that gtx1060 on Blade could get same gpu performance with other "bulky" gtx1060 laptops.
