I'm not here to argue either lol, I'm just providing my opinion on features as a user of the future product i want to own. And I never said perfect, so not sure if you were reading what I wrote. I was presenting features that competitors were offering for a lower price, if you didnt know and wanted to see Razer's take on these features. My opinion with many others don't really matter, it took nearly 3 years to get a thunderbolt port which was highly requested. So I imagine other features some people want aren't going to appear anytime soon, but doesn't hurt to discuss about it.

I'm pretty sure the thunderbolt was more to do with the Core than what anyone was saying they wanted on it really. But again, everyone wants different things I suppose.

  3. All I know is that it has been a very very long week. With the announcement a week ago getting excited as hell and now stuck in a holding pattern. No additional information since Friday (feels like forever ago) and some retailers like BH putting up placeholder skus which, unfortunately are recycled early 2016 numbers.

If anyone finds anything else of interest, no matter how small, please share so I can feed this incessant need for blade info! I'll be back in about 9 minutes to check for updates. Maybe 12. Depends on how busy I get with real world problems...

Linus has a meeting with Min at Pax West between the 2nd and 5th of September.

  5. Totally appreciate it. Totally. But I was the one who commented on it and got everyone thinking it was... I won't say it again because people will loose their marbles, suffice to say it is in WA. Lol. I got a little fog brained when I initially typed my post and launched a confusing downward spiral of misinformation. Then edited. Next time someone else can have the honor of bringing in great news but with such bad delivery as to mess up the entire intent of the comment ;) actually at this point I'll take any misinformation too. Just shout out random non verifiable sound bytes and I can run like mad to chase them down. It beats a holding pattern.

Anyone want 2000$ of my money for a 1060 razer? Seriously. Just write 1060 on it with a sharpie or something and mail it to me. That'd be great.

Good news is shipping date for current order is still 26th. This means we might see it as early as 26th. And Linus can be the first to get his hand on in September. Consider the relationship between him and Razer, he definitely knows something.

Looks like the blade pro is totally discontinued.

    What makes you think this?

They didn't released any blade pros until nvidia releases new pascal series, including desktop and laptop series but released a 'new' maxwell blade. and blade pro's killer contents/hardware, switchblade UI is dying, no further update.

So no official word from Razer yet? Shame, I really want to get myself a Blade with Pascal.

No word yet, but we are almost sure that the new Blade run will be the 1060 instead of the 970M.

Not really. They could fit in a couple of 2.5" drive bays for SSDs. They probably have room for at least one right now. That's all I'm asking for.

This is some great news! It may be a bit overkill as a school laptop (its certainly expensive in Europe) but the more brands that use Pascal GPU's the better.

The empty space that you see now, might be for cooling or for some other reason. Adding drive bays they would need to add space for the actual drives themselves, and all the wiring that has to go along with that, while in a space that doesnt get them too heated by the core, so I would think they would need to make the core a bit larger if they did that, and if you have something larger then the core, you might as well get a small desktop case and just use that. Its just not a very realistic thing razer would do probably. Thats all I'm saying.

  15. Well Amazon restocked a limited amount of 16 blades (sold by/shipped by Amazon) same old sku. so looking like zero chance of a surprise restock of upgraded 1060 on the August 26th restock date. Wah Wah.

Smattering of preorder dates for gigabyte still holding strong on newegg for 8/31 - Sept 2 and presumably they will also put in a PAX presence. Here's hoping for a firm announcement sept 2, since a restock to Amazon proper makes it seem unlikely that there are simply "no more" pro's or 970 blades

I highly doubt you are going to see a 'surprise restock' of Blades with 1060 instead of 970m.

There will be an official announcement before anything like this occurs.

Well, at $500 it should be a tough sell to anyone. I can build a SFF PC for $500. Slap in a gaming grade GPU and you got yourself a full-fledged gaming PC with far more capabilities. What they need to do is make some kind of adapter, like a PCIe card or whatever, that can connect to a laptop and do the same thing. I get the whole design aspect of it being appealing, but there's just no reason to get severely limited hardware when you can just get something a little bit bigger and do a whole lot more with it. If they want me to bite, they'll need to narrow that gap a bit more or lower the price.

Well, for starters the real price is $400. The $500 is for anyone who doesn't have a Razer device, and that isn't the target market.

You will always be able to build a desktop PC for cheaper than any laptop. That's not the point... The whole point of a Blade + Core is to have a unified system that functions identically at home, at work, on the plane, at a hotel room, etc PLUS the benefit of desktop grade graphics at home.

If a SFF fits your needs, then this isn't for you.

$400...ok. Kind of irrelevant since I can still build a SFF PC without a dGPU for $400. And you're kind of making my point here because there is a lack of storage options for the blade to make it the one and only PC for many users. Adding storage to the Core would make it a much more compelling option. Even better would be Razer's software support for all Thunderbolt 3 interfaces. I'm not saying they wasted time developing the Core or shouldn't offer it, but they could make it better for value conscious consumers.

If you really want your same desktop, apps, documents and everything wherever you go then that's kind of where we are now anyway with cloud-based everything. It's going to become more and more like that moving forward no matter what you are using. Having a separate PC is not going to hinder you in any way. A SFF system with this same Thunderbolt 3 support to pair with the blade would be simply amazing compared to what's offered with the Razer Core. Until then, if they want my money, they need to offer more storage and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Okay, DeadOfKnight has a valid point. The Razer Core could be improved by allowing expandable storage options as well as the GPU. Either a 2.5" or 3.5" bay somewhere in the core would be nice. There are already lots of great external storage options out there, and it would be cool if the Core would be more than a single-purpose peripheral.
