My Core has stopped working after a week. rekt. ;(
Could be the magnetic sensor, pull the internal tray out of the enclosure with the power and thunderbolt cable attached to blade and check to see if you get a click when it's fully seated. If the magnetic sensor is off you'll get the click early and it'll click off when fully seated. I used a modified paper clip w/ electric tape on the ends to protect scratching the tray to add some thickness to the rail on the end. Clicks every-time now and keeps connection though I want Razer to send me a proper Core.
What graphics card you using?
I received my core today. I put a 1070 founders edition in it. Followed the instructions provided. I'm noticing some choppiness in Windows though. When I click the start button there's a bit of lag. Not sure if it's because I'm using the Ethernet port and USB ports on the Core or if it's a thunderbolt issue though. Hmmmmm...
Finally able to preorder the darn Core. After months of delays to get the laptop, and months of being unable to preorder the Core, I've got two months to wait for it to ship.
This is pretty absurd.
I just got mine the other day but I need to wait till next week to get my evga 1070 sc. So excited, sucks for anyone who has to wait tho
waiting for Core to be released in Asia be like.... *insert skeleton pic*
I just ordered a Razer Blade and Razer Core. Both on back order. What does "Ships from..." really mean? For example, my blade order says "Ships from 22 Jul 2016" and my core order says "Ships from 26th August 2016" and then the entire order says "
The item(s) in your order will only ship once all item(s) are ready for shipment."
So does this mean nothing ships until at least August 26th, 2016?
How accurate have these dates been for folks actually placing orders? And how long form the "Ships from..." date until arrival in US typically?
Anyhow, looking forward to the system - quite awesome!
It's been pretty broken recently but I think since they just finished shipping out the last order then everyone else has to wait. My order said it was on backorder Till August 5th but I have received my razer core.
I really want to get an idea of the performance compared to my desktop. I ran fire strike on the Razer Blade 14 and also my current rig. My desktop is a GTX 970 with Intel 3770K i7 (16gb ram). I ran overwatch and Doom on it to compare FPS but I have to run the laptop at 1080 to compare the two since I only have a 1080 monitor for my desktop. Anything else I should run? I was thinking the Heaven benchmark.
For my RBS, the actual ship date was i believe about a week before what was quoted. And for others more recently with the Core, I was notified that it shipped a day after it had shipped.
I've not had any experience ordering multiple items together in the same order, but from what I've read on the forum, they tend it ship them all together in one shipment.
My opinion is that comparing the difference between desktop and razer core is uselss because the desktop will always win. I think the better thing would be to compare the blade 16 non razer core performance to with the razer core and see how much of a boost the razer core gives to the laptop.
Very true. It is pointless to compare, though, I think I would want to just to see the performance loss overall.
In benchmarks, absolutely. In real world gaming, ONLY if the game requires more CPU than the game can handle. I get the same FPS from my 6700k @ 4.7 W/ GTX 1080 in Overwatch [4k, epic settings] as I do with my Razer blade stealth + core + GTX 1080. Same monitor, same settings, 70-81 FPS.
Firestrike the Stealth + core only gets 9,385. I'd link the page, but for some strange rewason it didn't save. By comparison, my DESKTOP gets:
I'd re-run the Core, but I only have 1 1080, and ripping it out of the desktop gets tedius after awhile ; )
Bottom line: It doesn't matter HOW MUCH CPU you have if you're only using 10% of it. Conversely, any given single modern GPU is not going to saturate 40Gb/s. Not on the core, and not on a desktop [unless you're backfeeding into the laptop internal monitor for display output]
I got mine a couple of days ago. And I got the GTX 1080 on the same day
I hooked everything up to my NUC Skull Canyon. No problems whatsoever, worked immediately.
Getting 120-200 fps in Doom on ultra at 1080p.
HTC Vive is working perfectly as well.
I bought an Acer X34 (3440x1440, 100Hz, G-Sync) and hooked it up.
Getting 70-120 fps in Doom (on ultra settings) at that resolution with v-sync disabled.
So gaming on a NUC with Razer Core and GTX 1080 is pretty awesome
That's great to hear, I am thinking of going for this setup and already have an X34. Does gsync work perfectly? And is there any noticable lag introduced by the tbunderbolt connection?
G-sync is working without any issues, I just enabled it in the Nvidia control panel and in the game, done.
I'm pretty sensitive to input lag. This is actually my first gaming PC in many years (I usually work on computers, and play on consoles), and going from 30 FPS in most games on PS4 to 80-100 FPS on this setup is quite the difference The main reason I got a PC was to get rid of input lag and increase framerate. The Division on PS4 had 250-300 ms of input lag which ruined the game for me.
There is no lag whatsoever with my setup. I bought a gaming mouse (configured at 500 Hz polling rate) to get a little lag as possible and response is instant. Doom feels a lot more responsive than my Macbook Pro does with just a web browser open.
On a side note, the mouse cursor in Doom (in the menus) actually has some input lag, which worried me. But in game play there is none.
Very keen to see an update on availability in Australia. Any hints on when we might be able to order out here?
If anyone wants to see me review and quick benchmark results here is a link to the thread I just created.
