Definitely the kind of thing that someone with similar gear and the tactical backpack should test out for you - but I do have the backpack, a 17" laptop, a beast of a power plug & brick and a ridiculous amount of stuff that I take with me when I game outside of home, I can only imagine that with a 14" laptop and one of the smaller tournament keyboards that you'd still pretty easily fit everything into the tactical backpack.
(I'm female, I basically fit my entire purse into the various pockets along with phone, tablet, keys, water bottle, laptop, cables, mouse mat, mouse, headphones, etc and usually I still have room left over)
  4. I believe Linus Tech Tips has a great video highlighting the differences.

Hey guys, my old laptop bag is fraying like mad on the shoulder straps. I should've known better since it wasn't really designed to hold a massive 17.3" portable desktop like mine, but I'm really in need of some tough and durable bags right now. Appreciate it if you guys could point me towards the right product.

I know the Merc bag is really small and is pretty much out of the question, so this is pretty much a debate between the Tactical and the Utility (or maybe the tournament one? I'm not too familiar with that one).

So, I need something that can hold:
    - A really thick and heavy 17.3" monster notebook weighing close to 5 kg
    - The massive power adapter and wall plug for the laptop which weighs close to 800g
    - An externally powered 2TB Desktop HDD and its power cables, needs to be in a safe compartment
    - A Razer Mamba 2014 with dock, cable, everything
    - A Razer Orbweaver Stealth
    - A Razer Megasoma 2
    - A Razer Kraken Pro
    - Assorted tech dingdongs like thumbdrives and card readers
    - 2m LAN cable
    - 3 to 4 A4-sized paper notepads each one about 1/2" thick
    - A bottle of fountain pen ink
    - Water bottle
    - 2 small power extension/adapters each about the size of a fist

    Which bag should I get?

@newnar - I'd say that I could probably fit everything you mentioned in my Tactical Backpack, with the one exception being that the pocket designed for tablets is only really meant to hold one.

However, like you I have a monster-sized laptop. I have a 17.1" screen which means the entire unit is about 18in wide, 12in deep and 1.5in thick. This size also comes with an equally outrageous power brick. When I am doing LAN stuff then I also carry my Razer Orochi mouse, Megasoma mousemat, Hammerhead Pro headphones, Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet, Samsung Galaxy S3 phone, all my game authenticators, thumb drive, 25ft. LAN cable and a few other computer "bits". However, I also use the pockets to hold my keys, lip balm, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, clippers, nail file, contact lense solution/case, sunglasses, pens, wallet, business card holder (it's like a large wallet almost), camera, my charging brick (to recharge my phone from empty to full twice) plus cables, my Nabu charging cable, ipod + cable, a notebook and at least one water bottle (though sometimes I carry a large water bottle and one Monster Energy drink) ... There may even be more stuff, but I think that gives a pretty comprehensive idea of what all I travel with. I don't travel lightly.

There are numerous threads around here about the Tactical Backpacks and people's opinions of them. There's even a video showing the unboxing and exploring the inside plus pockets for one. Just poke around a bit, make use of the "search" feature and I think you'll find all the information you need. :)

Tactical is like an everyday backpack type thing (for laptops)

If your everyday carry is similar to a small platoon's loadout (or newnar's setup), then yes.

The Mercenary bag is actually quite a bit smaller than the Utility, I have both, and I've found that the Utility is the best so far

Just a question, what are those things hanging from the top of the Tactical Bag's middle compartment used for?

I'm wondering if they hold up to the goruck challange, thinking of getting one for the goruck challange -.- seems alot more appealing than those ugly goruck bags.

I´d really like to get the tactical bag, but 134€ is not really cheap for a back pack. might gonna use the insider reward on it

Anyone have a mercenary bag to comment on what will fit inside?!

For me the utility bag is like some sort of big one capacity hold everything in one shot. I personally prefer tactical bagpack. It look like more tougher than other since it is more expensive . hehe just some opinion

I've ordered the new Tactical Backpack (Smaller one) but I won't be getting it for about another week or so... Apparently it doesn't come with a rain cover which is a little sad...

I prefer my messenger satchel, not backpacks. it makes me too sweat so it's uncomfortable for me (especially in summer).

Can anyone tell me if the Razer Tactical Pro is worth the money, I've been really tempted to buy it, but I need to know if it's actually worth the price.
