    Hi

I want a portable pc for work but I want to use it for gaming and in the office I want to run 3 displays for, work and video. One display will be the laptop itself.

If it was you would you go stealth with a core and a 1080 or just get the next model up and get the blade with the 1060??

    Thanks in advance.

I would probably go for the stealth + core with 1080.
1080 is a much more powerful card vs the 1060. I would keep the core at home for gaming.

I vote for next model up. You're already spending a significant amount, might as well go all in and make sure all your requirements are met. I hate dealing with buyer's remorse after the fact. Not to mention the fact if you go with the weaker model you may get the nasty surprise of missing out on what you were aiming for.

No problem bud, enjoy your new laptop whichever it is, and be sure to get it off the Razer store to get all the comps they throw at you when you make your purchase!

I would love someone to tell the bench mark of the4k stealth with a core and a 1080 against the 1060 blade 4K. If they played Overwatch wha5 would achieve the higher fps (assume highest model purchased for both)????

I have the Blade Stealth 4k....

....and I'm really hoping that they come out with the core v2 or improvements/updates to fix some of the things I hear about.

Otherwise, it'll be the next gen. Blade 14 for me! Looking to hold out around new years to see where I stand with both options.

If I was cool enough I'd love to have both!!

but Yea, try the core! It looks very nice from what I've seen on external displays. Itll be interesting to see how it would be in a 3 monitor setup! either way...let us know how it works out!

    You happy with it?

To confirm you don't have the core as well then?

That is correct. If you have read/watched the reviews for the core. there are somethings that alter me from buying it now/yesterday because of it. such as..

    1. USB port issues..
Maybe just updates to alleviate the issues but anyhow I'll have links to discussions so you have an idea of my own concerns about it.

    2. Bottleneck..
The motherboard is the lifeline for the unit as its only a dual-core vs the quad core blade 14. That being said you are asking alot from the TB3 to handle the power of a 1080 or whatever you may throw in there. Once again some discussions with concerns.

So I guess if the two things mentioned isn't a problem for a $1,000+ setup. Then no worries, and knock yourself out! Otherwise I'd like to wait for some solid answers to some of these issues.

Then again I might still pull the trigger if no updates/v2 in the coming months as I would have never bought the RBS. I prematurely bought it without the research of the core issues. I was just overly excited for the fact that they had a "plug-n-play" set-up for an ultrabook! Just having that option was just so appealing! anyways, I'll try making the most out of it as more people post and update their reviews of the core experience.

Edit: To answer your question, I am happy with it overall, just the Razer core would have been the icing on this already awesome cake! I can still play the games I enjoy like Heroes of the storm and SC2 on low settings and still get around 40 FPS on wireless network. If I really wanna do some heavy gaming, then I'll just go the the desktop setup that I already have (in the signature).

Thanks. I have just today bought a core 2nd hand as non are available on the website. This is with a view to getting a Razer Blade Stealth. There is also a chance I may get a Razer blade and use the core as a 'boost'. I do however want the laptop primarily for work so the core is essentially to power extra displays (and perhaps a bit of sly gaming at work). Having looked at the Blade to the Stealth there is about 700 quid difference (roughly 700 euros). As the core is 400 there is not a massive difference in price between getting the 2 systems. The advantage is of course putting in a REALLY good GPU. The disadvantage is as you say the bottle neck. This is after all pretty new technology. I also note the stealth is duel core and the blade quad which concerns me too.

Well if you have a core you'll be fine for running multiple monitors, just thought it's worth mentioning that a Blade by itself can't actually run multiple monitors really except via Daisy Chaining (and even that can be a bit fiddly but that depends wholly on the monitor). I've got late 2016 Blade and two monitors going but they flicker due to (I think) my Dell monitor having an issue which makes it struggle to use MST.

As to your question itself about the CPU's and difference between the two most games tend to rely on GPU more than CPU these days, but it can vary a little. Having a quick look around people tend to say it works well but there's not point putting more than a 1070 in your core (even that it's possibly a bit much) as you probably won't be able to run new games at Ultra etc. But you should be fine in the Medium/High range, although if you're in doubt it's worth checking out the minimum and recommended specs for games you want to play and see what sort of processor they list there. If it seems to require more cores than you might be in trouble. I think strategy games and things which have a lot going on at one time are more likely to drain, wheras pretty games, FPSs etc. are more on the GPU side of things.

    Thanks

Just wanted to say appreciate the comments and took the plunge and bought a Stealth 4k today with £250 off. I thought it was likely to go up as we got nearer to Xmas so thought to sod it!

My core (off E bay) has arrived so hopefully, the two love birds should be joining within the week.

Thanks for all your comments. Such a great community. Love RAZER!!!

(Only slightly concerned new core is on the horizon but hey ho you can't wait forever and I think the discount on the laptop negates the discount on the core I would have got on a new one).

Congratulations dude! I'm happy for you! :smile_:
Did you get it from the Razer store or somewhere else if you don't mind me asking? And if you got it from the Razer Store what bonus did you get if you don't mind sharing?

Well the discount seemed very good but the free sleeve wasn't available with the 4k screen. I did however cash in 10k of Razer silver for a 20 dollar further discount which was pretty cool. Think it also comes with some free software as well . Bought direct from Razer as amazon didn't have the 1tb hd in stock in the U.K.

Really depends if you can wait or have to get something now. The loss of performance with how Razer has the Blade's motherboard not dedicated for the TB3 makes me want to wait. Either for a Core 2.0/New Blade that works dedicated for the full power... or just for the next Blade with better gpu.

Hi guys Razer core and Stealth all set up.

Ive managed to get Overwatch working at 120 FPS plus at 1080p on Medium/High settings with a 1080TI plugged in.

    Tbh really impressive technology!
