I'm thinking about purchasing a Blackwidow v2 TE, as it appeals to me due to it's size and the general look. For the most part, I type on my laptop, but also use my cheap logitech membrane keyboard for occasional typing and gaming. Would you say blackwidow te is a good investment? If I was to get it, I would probably always connect it to my laptop too and type on it.

I'm also trying to figure out what switches would be the best to use. I'm stuck between green and yellow. The quietness of the yellows really appeals to me, but I'm not sure if they are worse for typing (I have to touch type a lot, so I'm looking for something that feels good).

I guess it really depends on whether or not you like the feeling of touch typing on mechanical keyboards. IMO, the BW keyboards are worth it, but it depends on the person, and I mostly game rather than type. Also, I believe the only difference between green and orange switches are noise, I don't think they should affect your typing either way. Yellow switches are not good for typing as the low actuation point can result in a lot of mistakes, at least that's what I have read in a few reviews.

EDIT: Oops, I mixed up orange and yellow. Fixed now.

To your question directly: Yes, mechanical switches are most definitely worth it.

As to the two options you linked: if you like the silent option in the yellow switches and also touch-type then I think yellow is perfect for you. For those of us who can touch type, and do it quickly, with accuracy then you can consider also adding o-rings onto your switches which shortens the distance even further by preventing you from bottoming out the keys, this means that you can type even more quickly but just accurately. Since the switch won't have the "bump" in it like greens or oranges the smooth feel works really well for touch-typists.

Yes, mechanical switches are most definitely worth it. They give a much better feeling when typing or gaming IMHO.

It depends on preference and of course budget. Razer have a mech-membrane (ornata) that's amazing. A membrane keyboard the cynosa/pro that are way cheaper.
