So, recently I got the Chroma HDK! Asides from a few bugs with Synapse 3 and the issue I'm having with the lights not turning off when my computer shuts down, I'm loving it!

Ok, let's get back to the issue at hand. Basically, whenever I have both USBs plugged into my computer (the Micro USB -> USB for data and, the USB -> DC for power) the lights don't turn off with the computer BUT, when I only have the Micro USB -> USB plugged in, the lights turn off with my PC just fine. I've looked around and found a thread on Reddit with people experiencing the same issue. I'm not sure if this is an issue with Synapse 3 or something else. I've played around with the power setting in Windows 10 but it didn't seem to fix the issue. The only fix (so far) is to only have the USB for data plugged in. I am using USB 3.0 and am aware that it can be used for charging but, why wouldn't it stay on with the USB for data plugged in?

I'm also the proud owner of multiple chroma enable devices (i.e. Blackwidow v.2, Firefly, Naga, Man'o'war) and have no issues with any of them. I was wondering if anyone knew what the issue might be? I'm hoping that, if it's an issue with Synapse 3, this thread will be able to reach the Dev team so they can work on a fix!

I think its just a bug. It does the same thing for me. Only fix is to just turn it off in synapse before you turn your computer off. at least thats what i do, but still kinda annoying to have to do that. hopefully they come out with a fix

Mine works just fine with the Micro USB to USB Cable plugged into my PC, and then the DC to USB cord plugged into the little wall block that the HDK comes with. It is odd that it would be getting power of a PC when it is turned off though.

Does it turn back on when you boot the computer or, does it remember the settings?

So your strips turn off, even though you're using the DC to USB into a wall outlet? Might be a bug, I'm hoping it's a bug.

Yeah, I think it's because it's not being supplied enough power, otherwise. But, for some reason, the DC to USB is always being fed power, so it stays on. I'm having a hard time understanding why but I'm hoping there's a fix.

Yeah, might just be some kind of bug or something. I still don't understand how it stays on when the PC is off, unless you PSU provides power when the system is off somehow.

Seems to be happening to a few other people too. I’ll file a bug report in Synapse 3

I have the same issue. My fix is just to turn off my PC at the wall after I shut it down.

Does anybody have a problem with the computer not able to boot when the Razer HDK is plugged into the computer? I can't get past the Bios screen (Asus RoG) when the HDK is plugged in but when I unplug the Razer HDK, I am able to boot into Windows 10.

I've never had this issue personally. I assume you've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HDK module on synapse? Other times when I've had any issues with new hardware, sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling razer synapse fixes it.

Seems to be the motherboards lately allowing power to pass through, not sync with the power supply actually turning the power off completely.

Hoping this gets fixed soon, same problem here. It's so much brighter when they're plugged into the wall outlet so it'd be nice if they had the option to turn off when the computer gets turned off.

Hey guys, just wanted to post an update. As of February, 22, Razer officially released an update fixing some issues with crashes and chroma profiles. As of now, there is still no fix for the Razer Chroma HDK not shutting off on its own. I've spoken to a support staff and they told me "Yes it is probably a software fluke and has to be addressed to the developer team". Considering the latest update didn't address the issue with our Chroma HDKs, I encourage you all to file a support ticket using the Synapse 3 app.

I submitted a feedback report on synapse 3. Hopefully if others do too then we can get this fixed. As it's not a major issue, just an inconvenience.
