I already have a Kraken Pro Chroma and Deathadder Chroma and now only need a Blackwidow chroma, I was going to get the normal Blackwidow Chroma but I found the X and it looked brighter, which is brighter or has more vibrant colours?

The X has Brighter lighting because it does not have the cover over it, And the Blackwidow X is made out of military grade metal, unlike the Blackwidow.

The Blackwidow also uses 2 USB Slots if you want to use the Audio jacks on it, But the Blackwidow X Does not have those Audio Jacks.

I'd say the normal version has brighter lights, since it has a white back plate which reflects the light for maximum brightess
the X however doesn't have any cover so the light goes in every direction

also wrong, the bw has 2 usb plugs, one for the keyboard itself and one for anything you want to put in like f.e. a mouse, however you don't have to use it
the aux and mic jacks are seperate cables

@Mr Big Stuff here's a good comparison video

I gotta say, I've got a Blackwidow X Tournament. If you like clean sleek design and bright lights, it's the way to go. If you want extra features or just need them, get the non X variants.

Hi there. There seems to be a lot of wrong information in this thread so I'll try to help clear things up.

Mr Big Stuff, I can help more if you give me some more details about your personal needs and requirements for keyboards, but going off what you've posted, the original BlackWidow Chroma would be the way to go. The BlackWidow Chroma is definitely brighter than the X. This is due to having a white backplate to reflect light and a plastic cover to optimize it. There's no argument here. Razer says so right on their product page:

metal & brightness comparison bw x vs chroma.jpg

Just to dispel another common misconception, both BW Chroma and BW X Chroma have metal construction (as you can see in the chart above). The difference is that the BW Chroma has a plastic cover over everything while the X doesn't.

With that said, there are many more points for consideration when deciding on which model to buy. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Here's a list of points for both keyboards. You will have to decide for yourself which suit your needs better.

    BlackWidow Chroma
    :heavy_plus_sign: Dedicated macros
    :heavy_plus_sign: USB pass through
    :heavy_plus_sign: Audio pass through
    :heavy_plus_sign: Original Razer gamer font
:heavy_plus_sign: Plastic cover over metal top mounting
:heavy_plus_sign: Comes in both Green and Orange switches at the moment
:heavy_plus_sign: Optimized LED illumination via white metal backplate (brighter and cleaner)
:heavy_plus_sign: Matches other Razer Peripherals, such as the Orbweaver/Tartarus/Naga Hex/etc.

    BlackWidow X Chroma
    :heavy_plus_sign: Cheaper
    :heavy_plus_sign: Smaller Footprint
    :heavy_plus_sign: Easier maitenance
    :heavy_plus_sign: Built-in cable management
    :heavy_plus_sign: Exposed metal top mounting
:heavy_plus_sign: Fn and spacebar keycaps are backlit
:heavy_plus_sign: Keys have Razer 2016 design refresh font
:heavy_plus_sign: Clearer LED indicators for caps/scroll lock, etc.

The backlight on the BW Chroma is optimized. It has a cover to contain it and a white backplate to reflect light. Combining these together is what gives us that notorious chroma look. The X model does not have these features, so the light isn't as bright or clean.

The following should give you a good idea of how the backlight looks:

    [BlackWidow Chroma]

    [BlackWidow X Chroma]

Hope that helps you decide. There are more details to consider, such as mechanical switch type and TKL vs Full-Size, so let me know if you need more help. Welcome to Insider. Peace:v:

Saw this post and was getting hyped of giving you a full rundown of the differences between them but damn @Rajin you killed it.
Only thing I can add is that although it might sound like a small thing, for me atleast, the usb/audio passthrough is such a godgift. This won't translate to all setups but for some, like mine, where the pc itself is tucked away beneath a desk, being able to easily plug stuff in on top of your desk, instead of crawling beneath it, saves a lot of time and hassle ^^

I can confirm that, it's really nice to have one, I mean you could also buy an aux extension but that would look kind of ugly
  8. id say get the ornata

Thanks bro. Nice point about the usb/audio passthrough. For some users that feature is an absolute necessity. It's especially true for people who have all their cables tucked into cable management...big hassle to undo everything.

I would recommend the BlackWidow since its brighter and if you would like a brighter chroma set up then buy that one but at the same time Ive got the blackwindow X and I like it since its bright and cool but not too much lighting :) My opinion though

Used blackwidow and blackwidow x. Is that only me thinks that blackwidow is brighter?
Currently owned blackwidow x, I feel like its not that bright as blackwidow but the lighting is just the right brightness for me.
Well, what blackwidow x does not have is the USB port and the headset jack.

Read my post 7 messages above yours. You are definitely right.
BW > BW X in brightness and is even advertised as such:

    Sorry, my fault on this.
And there is another point comes when cleaning the keyboard. Blackwidow X is easier to clean comparing to Blackwidow.
