Why is the razer store pricing so uncompetitive?

I would really like to use the discount codes, promos etc, but the pricing on the Razer store is just too high.

For example, the deathadder chroma is $99.99 CDN in Razer store, but only $76.99 at Newegg.ca.
This means that even after using the promo code for $20 off I'd still be paying more...
This applies to most, if not all the products in the Razer store.

Can we raise some awareness so we can get a somewhat competitive pricing? It'd be nice to be able to buy from Razer themselves while enjoying the promo codes they offer.

Newegg is a MUCH bigger company, meaning they don't rely AS much on the small gains on specific items since they see much more traffic. Imagine it like this:
Newegg can make $10 an item because maybe 300 people a day buy that item. The result? 3,000 gain.
Razer can make 25 an item, but if they only sell 75 items they will still only make 1875. Simply put, Newegg gets a lot more traffic and can afford making less per item because of this

Hmm for me using the US newegg, the prices are the same on the BWChroma, and Deathadder is only 10$ cheaper at newegg. Maybe Newegg.ca have some inventory clearing sales going on right now.

I hate to say this, but no you shouldn't.

There are far more cheaper places to buy from.

I personally only purchase from the Razer Store when there is a good promotion to pick up on. Other than that, I purchase Razer products elsewhere.

Sometimes I buy from Razer just to make sure I'm getting a real Razer product. I recently purchased a BW TE Chroma from Amazon Marketplace (US) - it was actually _more_ than the Razer store, but I wanted it in time for a lan party - and it was pretty clear from the packaging that what I got wasn't the real deal (FYI Razer-pirates, if you have to put a "new" sticker on your half-@$$ed bubble wrap packaging, you're bootlegging wrong).

Other times Razer does offer products in their store that aren't available anywhere else - like the stealth variants. You do pay a premium, but you pay a premium for Razer products everywhere. But if you know that you're getting the real deal for less - that's an easy decision. ;)

Depends on the country, some country just have lots of counterfeit. So, getting from Razer store is trustable

i feel like all the prices are streamlined across the board for most Razer products.

i feel as though the razer insider rewards would be one of the reasons to buy from the razer website if you don't feel like spend the extra mile. But hey if you buy at the right times, Razer rewards you with the promotions on top of codes.

Yes, Newegg makes more overall, but we are not comparing revenue.

As a customer, I would prefer to buy directly from Razer if possible, but if I am forced to (in an monetary sense) buy elsewhere, then there must be something wrong.

    Even when we compare revenue,
    Unit cost : $50
Newegg Price: $60 Potential profit: $10
    Razerzone: $90 Potential profit: $30

Who do I buy from? Ofc newegg.
    Result:
    Newegg Revenue: $10
    Razerzone Revenue: $0

Well, the other take on it is that it's also part of their identity. It's kind of like Apple, make high quality items and never put things on sale. And when it comes to PC gaming peripherals, they're one of the top leaders, if not the top, in the industry - so they can charge a premium for their stuff. Top brand name gaming gear is notoriously pricey anyway - Corsair's RGB K70 is priced at 169.99.

Razer sells to distributors and makes money while doing so, but then those distributors can undercut the Razer Store prices because Razer sells for MSRP (not weird, most companies do this). Street price is always bound to be less.

Like Burgz mentioned earlier, it's probably better to buy directly from Razer only for sales/deals. Insider Rewards are a nice incentive to buy direct. Otherwise, buy elsewhere. I remember seeing a combo deal on Newegg not too long ago: BW Chroma + Mamba Chroma, $210. That would cost you $320 @ razerzone.

Genuine store wont make it cheap and they will sell on premium price. Unless there is promotions going on. While other third company such as BestBuy, Newegg, Amazon can offer cheaper price. This is just how it goes.

  16. thanks for that reply!! cause indeed other shops/websites are selling at a much cheaper price

You're only taking your sale into account there, let's say Razer make 100 sales with £30 profit, that's £3000. Now let's reduce that profit to £10 and say it doubles their sales to 200. That's £2000 profit. Or in simple terms, bad business.

There are too many variables that we don't know. We can assume this and that, but at the end, we simply don't know.
At the end, even if you buy it from another store, it's still sold by Razer in first place.

I guess both of us are making assumptions. It just feels kind of shitty that incentive to buy from Razer Store itself is pretty low.

I also wonder if it's a "don't undersell our distributors" kind of thing. Imagine if you're Newegg and you just purchased 1000 units of Eidolons from Razer, and then people don't buy from you because Razer is offering the same thing on the cheap. Pretty soon the Razer store would be the only store...
