So I'm currently studying product design and our latest brief was to design a mini projector.

With Razer as my chosen brand this is the final concept I came up with.

    Any feedback welcome!

The is one very nice looking projector. I would be willing to buy one of them if it was for sale.

    Radical. Would buy.
  10. So, which programs did you use to render all this?
Cause I'd like to get myself started with some ideas as well

Nice!!! (At first I was confused by the spellings... then I realized... 'Murican isn't the only language in the world). But anyways... I'm not sure what software you're using... I'll give some tips, but I use C4D, so I may or may not be of much help (and am a bit rusty).

    1. Glow textures would bring awesomeness to this concept design. This way the Bluetooth symbol on the 3rd picture looks more like a Bluetooth symbol.
    2. The reflection in the 2nd picture is amazing, but look out of place with the background... Try changing the background to a darker one, or something to contrast with the reflection.
    3. It might just be me... But I think you have to use the standard 3-prong plug to power an entire projector + features.
    4. Add textures (physical texture bumps and such) to the design in the 4th picture, will make the product seem less like a rendered image and more like an actual product

Overall, AMAZING. Would love to see this 3-D printed!
    Keep up the excellent work!

hmmm great looking aesthetics, and very well done images. imo, the IO is a little bit lacking. mainly two things. 1. VGA port to support some older computers or laptops so you get a little bit more functionality from it. 2. a few more options for audio out, since what i'm imagining is streaming from a wireless device, and you have a nice sound system you can use, but doesnt support 3.5mm

Yeh I've had a play with C4D a while ago, my renders were modelled in Creo Parametric then rendered in 3DS Max.
    1. there is actually a glow texture on the Bluetooth but it didn't really come out too well.
    2. Yep reflection was a bit unnecessary, think it just came out with the alpha rendered by accident.
    3. No idea how much power something like this would take, hoping the use of LED tech will keep it as low as possible.
    4. There are some bump maps but again they are too subtle perhaps, was a little time constrained so I just tweaked a standard material.

    As for 3D printing....
the first two images are fdm models to look at injection moulding halves (the halves were changed after to give them more process suitability), and the other two are powder inject prints of the projector!

Ha! I love this idea :) Does the Blade have any dock connectors? It would be SO cool if you could just plug a Blade into this thing and have not only the video but the system as well, all tied together.
