Howdy! So I just got myself a media controller! It cost $130+ and it has chroma lighting! Recently my Razer Naga Epic Chroma has been acting up... warping everywhere, locking onto the y axis, no matter how much I move it up and down, and falling asleep whenever I leave it unmoved for 2 seconds! I've had her for around 4 years, and has served me well, but I can't deal with the glitches anymore, especially in a game like Overwatch! I just decommissioned the ol' gal, and she is serving as my media controller, using the sensitivity adjusters as volume levels and the tilt scroll wheel for the next/previous tracks! Ordered a Basilisk not long ago as a replacement, and it should arrive sometime this week!

What do you guys use your old Razer mice/any mice that can be reprogrammed for?

Note: I will add more poll choices as they come to mind!

I usually use mine until they have issues then, they'll sit in a drawer or box as a back-up in case the new one stops working all together(which has never happend) . My last one was fine so I gave it to my Mom to use on her computer.

I use them as a backup mices.
Only Ouroboros is in cabinet - it's an art :D

Backups... Especially since my Naga just died last week & my Lachesis likes to start stuttering until it's reset every few hours I was forced to pull out my circa 1999 OG Boomslang. It's still a great mouse but to be honest with it's mechanical ball it just feels barbaric.

When did Razer make a media controller? If it's not Razer, then it's just plain old RGB lighting.

I don't have any "old" Razer mice yet, as my Naga Epic Chroma is still going strong after almost 2 years. I do have four Razer mice that I use regularly for work, too - Naga Hex v2, Taipan, and DAE, with the Atheris adding to my list, now that it came. If one of them stops working, I'll replace it with the same kind (if still available) - it's better for me to have different mice at work, because it's easier to tell the difference when they're actually different.

I voted other. I just put my old mice back into their boxes and keep them in storage if I upgrade. I have a little bit of hoarder in me. Nothing like those troubled souls on A&E, but I do like to keep the original boxes of items that I buy. I still have all my Razer boxes for instance. The Razer boxes them selves are little works of arts in their own way.
I got the box on the left.

They haven't haha, its my old Razer Naga Epic Chroma.. doesn't track movement well at all, warping and freezing everywhere, so I use the sensitivity adjusters behind the mouse's scroll wheel for the volume up/down and the tilt scroll wheel for previous/next track!
After 4 years of use, I couldn't just put the ol' mouse in its original box(which I kept... same with all my other Razer items), so I just put it in a corner of my desk for use as a media controller until my new Basilisk arrives(hopefully sometime this week!) Ordered that Sunday.

Actually I went to check, I just have the box on the left, what is the one on the right?
You should do a review, some other guy was ragging about the right side button overlap.

Huh, box doesn't really say much other than DeathAdder on that one. copyright 2012-13 and my receipt says I bought it in 2014. 6400 DPI

Ya, I thought the box on the right was the deathadder chroma box which is why I got confused. That's a box from the generation before the chroma which I never had.

That's pretty darn cool! I love that through Synapse we're actually able to re-purpose old hardware like that. I'm glad your Naga Epic is still serving you well, it brings a tear to my eye.

I on the other hand haven't found a use for them. My original Abyssus I gave to my brother after I acquired a DeathAdder a year later. That served me well for almost 5 years and it's still working but I've since moved from that to the Destiny 2 DeathAdder Elite (I cannot contain my excitement for the game).

With no one for me to hand my first DeathAdder to it's still sitting in my drawer hoping that one day I'll find a use for it... wow this was depressing.

Oh, I get it now. I actually googled "RGB Media Controller" to see who put one out.

Yeah, when my son gets old enough, he'll get my Razer hand-me-downs ... and then when he can show me that he can use them without breaking them, he'll start getting his own collection of new Razer gear.

Actually have been using it like that for quite awhile, only difference now is that the tracking doesn't work haha, but thats technology for ya, no matter what it is, inevitably some part of it will break. :frown_:
Edit: Lets not forget that when I play my music with the audio visualizer it will still 'dance' to the music with its chroma lighting!:smile_:

Fortunately I should be able to use my old Naga Epic Chroma like that for quite awhile, may even bind some synapse macros to the thumb grid for various games such as clicker games such as clicker heroes on steam, so it's basically a mini gamepad now!

Speaking of synapse macros, anyone have any good ones for various genres of games such as MMOs or FPS? :big_grin_:

Alright that made me laugh haha, did anything good turn up on that search? :big_grin_:

Soon as I get it I will be testing a whole bunch of things out! Can't wait! Gonna start by testing out that right side button with both 2/3 and 2/3/4 grips!(weird, but using a cheap wireless until my basilisk arrives and I have been drawn into using that grip for some odd reason:confused_:) I will definitely throw together a review of it, possibly to entice other Razer fans into getting one if it is as good as it looks for fps games!(Such posts would be allowed on Insider right? Pro's/Con's, what worked well, how well it paired with other Razer features, that kind of stuff?)
And if said review is allowed on Insider, what would you guys like some extra detail focused on(dpi settings, clutch, whether or not the scroll wheel adjuster scratches mouse pad for example)?

I think its awesome that you/other Razer users like you are passing it down to the next generation! Go Team Razer! :big_grin_:

As a final thought, anything you guys think I should add to the poll lists? Going to put "Returned to Original Box for Storage", anything else? :big_grin_:

Thank you for posting how you use your old mice! Its been a blast to watch this thread and I hope it stays alive for quite a bit longer! :big_grin_:

That's what I do now with my hand me downs, I always tell my kid, who else in your class uses a $180.00 keyboard, which was the cost when it first came out, as a daily driver?
Why wouldn't it be allowed, its not like Razer Insider is some oppressive police state. We're talking mice here. I'd like to see any cons as well as the pro's so that It'll at least be fair. A good honest review is better then a fluff piece. I for one will be keeping an eye out for it.

I just like to make sure :smile_:

My mouse is supposed to arrive on the 14th(Tuesday), so I will most likely have a review out by the 17th/24th(depending on how busy I am)!

Not trying to get your hopes up too much, but everything I've ever ordered off the Razer store came a day earlier than the expected delivery date. except the one that got held up in customs.

Checked it earlier today(around 2PM Eastern Time) and it said it was in HK, China. Would it be able to make it to eastern shore of U.S.A. in 1 day from HK?

That's what always surprised me, it would get over here so fast from HK, yeah usually just the one day and I'm in the middle of the country. Would come HK to Indiana to Wisconsin. But it always would take days to go from order to ship which would drive me nuts

Still says it is in process... Yet I have gotten the email saying that it is currently at HK... Thoughts? Think it is shipped yet or just processing still? Been on processing since Sunday night/All of Monday.
