The Kraken is dead, long live the Kraken.

Well now I need a new headset. After a Blackshark and Kraken 7.1 Chroma I have no clue of what to take ...

The Tiamat 2.2 looks pretty, but the Man O war too, and may have the 7.1 ...

I can't find any info on the Thresher and I don't really want another Kraken with the V2 (the first one was great but I prefered the cuschion of the Blackshark.

There is still some old Kraken 7.1 non chroma with a stand, but i don't really feel going on an old one.

Any advice ? What do YOU prefer ?

I have my Kraken 7.1 USB from 2 years and a half now and the cushions just started to scratch, but i love them so much it's much more skinny and narrow compared to any new headsets released from Razer. I was going to get the Kraken 7.1 V2 if i'm willing to change them, because they have chroma and hopefully a better durability than others. Since i have heard some issues with the Man'O'War meaning that the plastic headband is easily broken, and that the Thresher does not have any support on Synpase. I don't pretty much like the bulky look of the Kraken 7.1 V2 but i'm thinking of buying it or get another brand new Kraken 7.1 Chroma.

The best one would be the Kraken 7.1 V2 if you are used to the first generation of the Kraken 7.1 Headsets. They are much better on the ears, have a much much better build quality (I admit, I beat my around quite a lot and none of the black paint on the aluminum came off yet), and I have not had any issues with mine, and they sound quite better too, and Bass is not as boomy as it was in the past.

I've heard of this problem with the Man O War yes. It seems that the Kraken V2 is liked, but as Jenjar say it as less bass and i like how the V1sound to be honest. There is still a package with the Kraken 7.1 (non Chroma) with a stand. Do you think this is a good deal ?

The Kraken 7.1 V2's or just the normal ones? They are outdated now, and honestly the V2's sound much better other then the little less bass. I can't really go back to my old ones now, they are not comfy at all now IMO, and the sound is much worse.

Well the V2 seems to be really loved, now it is all about the choice of the version ^^

I have the new quartz pink Kraken V2 headset and I really do love it, very comfortable and great sound. However, if I could choose absolutely any headset I'd love to use the Thresher Tournament Edition headset, that one just seems exceptionally appealing to me.

I haven't seen much infos on the Thresher, not many test or else. What kind of particularity does he have ?
Does he sound better ? Is he much more comfy ? Or maybe only the look ?

I think the sound is like the Kraken headset lineup, they both use the same size of driver and such. I heard they are comfy too, never used or had a pair so I would not know what they feel like. I know you can switch out the earcups on them if you wish so though.

The Kraken also have two types of earcup now as I saw on the website. I think the round is a little larger thant the original ones and the oval something like the Blackshark. I think .. ^^

I just started using my Kraken 7.1 V2s. They're pretty good I'm really satisfied with them. Although i got mine through P2P so I can't judge based on the amount of money spent. It's true that they're pretty heavy/bulky though. And since mine is over ear, it does get a bit hot (i live in a humid country)

Money will not be much of an issue since my first Kraken was still under warranty, it will be a replacement and I don't mind adding some extra bucks for a better headset ;-)

The first Kraken was getting hot after some hours too, and I live in France, which is not too much humid ^^

I'd personally go for the Kraken Pro V2 or Thresher TE as I prefer 3.5mm connections and inline volume controls. The V2 headsets should be a huge improvement over your first generation Kraken in terms of audio balance and comfort.

What I really liked about the Thresher was that the ear cups swivel and the suspension headband should be even more comfortable than the standard manual adjustment on the Kraken combined with the giant ear pads. If I could trade in my Pro V2 for the Thresher TE, I probably would.

I have the Kraken V2's and mine are a USB connection. Didn't realise there was an option for 3.5mm jack. I mean I'm glad I went USB, but I honestly didn't know you could have 3.5mm ones.

After my first 7.1 headset there is no going back to anything else than 7.1 surround headset, for me.
Now I have 7.1 V2 and I'm happy with these, feels like earcups are a bit bigger (well these are oval ones) and feels a little bit lighter on head.

Well, that's all I'm able to say, these two generations of USB-Krakens are only Razer ones I've ever had
