One theory I had was that Razer originally intended to use the Pascal chips and designed the boards to fit Pascal chips, but the chips were held up and so they had to use VRAM-upgraded Maxwell chips instead. If Pascal chips arrived, they could be easily swappable this way.

Nice idea. But very unlikely to happen. Even I (who dont follow tech news often) know that the new gen GPU is coming out this year soon. They made a decision to use 970M isstead of waiting means that they do not want to use the new chip in the first place. What are they gonna do with all the 970m chips they ordered? If this is like 1 month+ before the shipment data then I could guess that they may not even started the assemble process and they may not yet get the GPUs.

The delay email came out 3 days before the initial shipment date. What do people normally do right before deadlines? Final check! I think it must be some serious quality issue identified that they have to push back the shipment date.

970M is more than enough for me so I dont really care about if they are planing something or not. But I do think if razer plans to use Pascal this year (i.e. 2 blade models this year), they should say it. So people can make more informed decisions. I know this will make their new product less supersizing. But a $2000 laptop is a big investment for most of us.

Why? If Medium-sized Mobile Pascal isn't going to ship in volume until December, why delay buying a new notebook for nine months?

If they do what they did when moving from Kepler to Maxwell, we're going to get a midrange mobile part with the same general performance as the old part. Best you'll see is a moderate reduction in power usage. Remember the GTX 860M?

We're seeing new models from eVGA (they entered the fray), Dell, Acer, Gigabyte, etc. I don't see any indication that Pascal is going to take the mobile landscape by storm in the next few months.
  4. Nope, if this was the case we would be seeing people who preordered but did not receiver the email. From what I've been able to tell, that hasn't happened, meaning they moved the entire shipment back 3 weeks, which isn't how an overloaded sale works, you would ship what you had on hand and then back order the rest. Not shipping any units means they don't have it on hand, which is why it sounds like a production/logistical thing. Like others have said, stuffs gotten caught up in customs before, could be as simple as that. Though, the quietness of the situation is what seems odd. I still don't think they're making hardware changes though, everyone's getting their hopes up for a new GPU, and I don't see that happening at all.

I'm considering looking elsewhere at this point... I was really excited to get this new version but not giving an explanation is really irking me. It's just hard to find a laptop with these specs at this price point.

This is their reply to me.

Due to unforeseen circumstances during fulfilment stage, we are not be able to ship your order as stated in your order confirmation and is scheduled to be shipped instead on April 22. Our teams are working very hard to ship it to you as soon as possible.

We truly apologize for the delay and we hope that you are as excited as we are to wait for the latest addition to the Razer family.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What can this unforeseen circumstances be?
Also it is circumstances not circumstance.

I received pretty much the same email when I asked them yesterday. Hopefully they're just figuring out how to fit the blade and a free core into the same shipping box.

If you have a look at the unboxing video you will know that it is easier than you think.
    just remove the middel box.
Anyway, I still perfer a graphic upgrade. It is not impossible. Especially when you consider the Pascal GPU is twice as efficient.

Didn't even know there was an unboxing. Thought no one had a hold of it?

I was talking about the previous models, all of them.

Wonder why the order status page still hasn't changed.

That's a good point, especially since with the GPU and trackpad being the only things that weren't updated. As I said elsewhere, I'm on a 6 year old laptop. The week delay isn't that big of a deal for me as I was originally quoted April 15. But I'll be paying attention to the Pascal announcement.

I had the stealth as well. I agree it it was a great machine. That being said I did have problems with mine (hence y i am a former owner). One was the track pad would not decompress if not on a flat purpose. The other is i noticed if I had an external keyboard or mouse plugged into usb frequently the internal wifi card would not register on boot, requiring me to reboot for it to register. I did an rma and got a replacement. Trackpad was fixed. The wifi issue occurred on the replacement as well.

I don't think it would be far fetched they found a critical flaw alpha production that they are requiring manufacturer to fix.
  17. I just don't understand why Razer has not released any official word on this. If it is a production/logistical issue, why won't they just tell us? I mean... why just let us speculate.

why won't razer won't tell us, i mean if its a problem with the system they should tell us after all i did fucking pay 2200$ plus taxes.

Has anyone tried to get a hold of someone on the executive side of Razer? I mean, instead of customer service? And for the previous delays to systems, as in the 2014 craziness, was there any sort of compensation for the delay? Or just - here's your system. Bye.

I laughed at the last part of your quote, partly because I could almost see it happening considering the tone of the delay email (Hi, your laptop's been delayed, bye.)
