i am looking for a new laptop to replace my Sony Vaio S (2011.) i am currently looking at 3 laptops but i am unsure what one would be the best option
    1. Razer Blade Stealth 1349.99 CAD razers store
    2. Asus Zenbook (http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-zenbook-ux306ua-vb72-i7-6500u-8g-a8-131859.htm)
    3. Lenovo YOGA900 (http://www.ncix.com/detail/lenovo-ideapad-yoga900-i7-6560u-56-130630.htm)

i need this for school, and maybe some really light gaming (ie minecraft.) i am a counselling psychology major and i am just looking for something that can do mostly teamviewer and documents, but i intend on keeping this laptop for awhile. i have one gaming desktop at home and an old core2quad NAS. so storage is not a massive deal.

if you have any suggestions i would love to hear them. also if you live in canada please let me know how customs worked out for you since i know it can be hit or miss.
also if you had any issues with your stealth please let me know, i have heard about the usb type c connection breaking but not enough to deter me from buying one yet.

Buy the Blade. I have 3 of the following laptops and the RBS is better in any aspect.

Blade Stealth is superior to the other laptops you specified, and is perfect for your described needs.

  4. Blade stealth is awesome but if are attentive to details then it's probably Not for you. The quality of the product is terrible. I am on my 5th one. First one the wifi didn't work on 5ghz connection. The second one did connect to 5ghz but would randomly disconnect and the speed wasn't what it was supposed to be. The second one also had a fan tick that really pissed me off after awhile. The third one I don't remember why I returned it. The fourth one there was no battery detected and nothing would fix that. The fifth one the bottom plate isn't screwed all the way down and seems like one screw got screwed in at an angle. Also the hooks that keep the back of the bottom panel on is loose. This last one I am keeping and just fixing it myself. Great laptop, crappy quality.

I'm sorry to be this asshole but it might help to change the title to actually attract people who may be able to help you with your issue.

sorry i couldnt think of a title hence the comma, i wrote about 3 different ones but nothing seemed right at the time.

thank you for the information, that is the second time i have heard of quality issues with the stealth (one being a review.) there was also some issues with the usb type C cable not working as well...

  7. Yea if your a perfectionist and want everything to be perfect with the Stealth then you might have a headache on your hands. In my opinion all my issues shouldn't have happened since I paid $1200 for a laptop...... but the reason I stuck with it is that it is an amazing laptop. Yesterday I screwed in all the screws that we loose and it fixed part of my issues. The top is the bottom panel is still loose and I mean loose as in I can take my finger and pull the panel off and there around a 1/2 inch gap. But I guess I'll have to deal with it since ld rather not get a worse one

luckily i am not a perfectionist when it comes to laptops. especially since i used to own a dell (inspiron 6400) that was being held together with rc car parts :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. i can always upgrade the wifi if i have issues, and i might get a bigger SSD, but that would all be down the road. the biggest issue for my current Sony is that my battery is dying, the whole laptop is just aging. with no driver support from VAIO (JIP) most if not all the amazing things about this computer just don't work (besides the battery life.)

  9. Then I would definetely recommend the Razer Blade Stealth. Since you only want to play minecraft then IDK if the razer core is worth it for you since the core plus a 1070 would cost around $850. But i would definetely recommend the laptop.

i would love it if i could pay American prices. the core costs 699.99 CAD while a 1070 goes for 550+ cad, and the blade stealth is 1349.99 CAD (base model). if i ordered it on the canadian microsoft store the stealth costs 1999.99. i wish i could get the core and the 1070 for 850. now i just have to wait for razer to get back to me then i will order the laptop.

You should buy the blade. It's basically perfectly suited to your needs that you described.

I don't really recommend Lenovo because of poor product quality.
ASUS will be okay, but if you prefer ASUS I recommend new Transformer Book series with Thunderbolt 3.
I recommend Blade Stealth, Dell XPS 13, or HP Spectre 13.

shamus20 I think the Blade Stealth would suit your needs perfectly. It's a travel friendly ultrabook that is future-proofed for gaming via the Core, should you ever decide to play nicer games. To be fair though, from what I've gathered here on the forums, the Blade Stealth has been hit or miss. Many people are 100% satisfied with their Blade, but some have mentioned problems and endless replacement cycles.

I think that the Blade would suit you as well. It's a good pc laptop that is portable and run games decently. I highly recommend it!

  17. Either the Blade or Stealth would work all depends on if you want the core or not and how portable you want to be. I cant even feel the Stealth in my backpack when carrying it around. But either should be find and you'll be pretty happy.
