Is there any reason at all why Razer decided to switch to Green LEDs for the status lights? Razer still manages to somehow screw up a perfectly good design with bad choices. The Chroma functionality is pointless if there's a fixed color accent. Yes, it's just a small light and you can turn it off. But it's still a bad choice considering the others have white.

So far, Support has been claiming that it's white based on what they have in the office. However, unboxing and reviews say otherwise. Odd that they can't provide an image of the said unit they have in the office due to restrictions. It's not like the keyboard is unreleased. Not to mention how long it takes for a reply.

Also, checking the product page of both the BlackWidow X Chroma, BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma and the BlackWidow X Ultimate. The BlackWidow X Chroma and BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma shows that it's white while the BlackWidow X Ultimate shows that it's green. Really big oversight on the BlackWidow X Chroma if that's the case. It goes all the way to the packaging.

At the very least it seems like the Tournament Edition has white sans the Game Mode indicator. Though I have doubts with the Tournament Edition as of now. The product page depicts it as having a removable cable, but the table comparison in that same page with the regular BlackWidow Tournament Edition Chroma states it's non-removable. Support says it's non-removable, but based on their response in regard with the X Chroma has me doubting their answer.

No decent response via Insider PM, e-mail or Twitter at all.

The devil is definitely in the details with this one. Nice catches Reaver.

Please keep us updated if you ever discover the true status light colors for all 3 X models and whether or not the TE cable is detachable.

For the lights, only one configuration makes sense to me:
    • BW X Chroma - white
    • BW X TE Chroma - white
    • BW X Ultimate - green

i totally agree with you. i prefer the old design plus you can easily determine which are on and which are not, i owned a BW X ultimate and i should say you cannot easily determine which is on if you are playing in the dark. you need to look closely in he indicator. but you wont have any problem looking at it when you are in a well lighted place. but you have a backlight keyboard. what is the point if you will keep on using it in a well lighted environment

Got a reply on Twitter. Seems that there was indeed a mistake with the BlackWidow X Tournament Edition. Though it wasn't stated as to which of the two was the mistake. Waiting for more clarification on that.

I'm really doubting the white lighting for the indicators on the BlackWidow X Chroma due to unboxing and reviews so far. Really thinking this was an error in Razer's part and the lights that were installed were for the BlackWidow X Ultimate. Guess they don't want a recall if that's the case.

Agreed, I bought the BW X Chroma a week ago and it seems strange that they would decide to switch to a green lighting for the indicator's instead of the white shown on every picture as it definitely messes with the RGB theme. It seems to me like they messed up the first units and decided to keep it that way.

Exactly my thoughts. Support still insists that it's white despite all the proof I've given them that it isn't. There really isn't a reason to go with green lighting on the BlackWidow X Chroma and white with the BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma. They should at least admit that they messed this up. They did mess up with the listing of the detachable cable of the BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma so I wouldn't be surprised if the same applied here.

Even the post @Razer|Technokat has here at Insider shows this.

@Min-Liang Tan Hopefully would clarify this.

Can't order properly with all the inconsistencies.

Just got the BlackWidow X Tournament Edition that I order last Sunday. Shipping was expected to be on the 29th but for some reason it was shipped earlier. There are two things I could confirm at the moment.
    • The indicator lights are white
    • The keyboard doesn't come with the advertised basic sleeve
I also got the Enhancement Kit to go along with the keyboard. For some reason once more, the brush is missing from the package. I've got no idea as to how the person who was packing my order missed that.

Need to know - is the cable detachable?!

And wow...just wow lol. I don't understand...doesn't the brush come inside the same blister pack as the rings and keycap puller? As in there's a dedicated spot in the vacuum-formed plastic for it, right? So they just shipped it to you with that spot empty? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

EDIT: Just read your PM to me after I wrote this.

I know right? It's like it was just thrown into the box without checking it for any problems. I've included a photo below on how it is exactly.

That and the missing basic sleeve that was clearly listed on the product page. It'll be pretty disappointing if they decided to sell it separately since that's one of the reasons I chose to go with the Tournament Edition.

Wow it seems like they really dropped the ball on this one.

My BW TE Chroma Stealth came with a ballistic nylon case to carry it around:

I'm guessing the 'basic sleeve' is probably made out of neoprene? I actually was wondering about this when I came across that detail on the product page. I could not find it in the Razer Zone store so I have no idea what it looks like or if it even exists. I doubt it's the "Razer Keyboard Bag" because that one is too large to fit the TE edition.

I can't remember if I came across a sleeve before in the Razer Store. However, I can't check it right now since there seems to be a problem with the site not loading properly. Even the update required for Synapse didn't want to start. Tried to perform a clean install but the download itself would take seven hours the last I tried to download Synapse again. Connection's good though as I could still play online and stream videos.

Wow I feel so bad for you! My BlackWidow X Chroma has green lights as well. Did they end up changing that in the later models? Also, the site seems to be back up and Synapse seems to be working again! Good luck in fixing the problems and receiving the sleeve!

Ever since I reported it to them numerous times, all new posts about the keyboard with photos has the light turned off. Seems like it really is an error on their end since there really is no reason for them to go with green lighting on the BlackWidow X Chroma.

Hopefully the sleeve is something they could send over, not to mention the missing brush from the Enhancement Kit.

Wow, you really did get the short end of the stick huh? I hope everything gets resolved soon!

Well, just received a reply from Support. Their now saying that the keyboard doesn't come with a sleeve as stated on their website. The website does state it now but didn't prior to the start of shipping.

Noticed as well that the #7 key seems to have dust trapped underneath the paint, causing an unwanted bump that could also be the point where the paint would chip in the future. Support says that I'll need to send back the keyboard for a replacement which I have no idea how long it would take.

Basically, I won't be able to work until the replacement arrives. Combine that with the misinformation about the basic sleeve and the missing brush, can't say I'll buying again from Razer.

Damn. That really does suck. I would hate for that to happen to me and I would without a doubt ask for a replacement sleeve and enhancement set. Razer has given me hell with my Blade 2015 as well since it started having problems. They want me to send it back for repairs but I have exams coming up etc. and honestly they won't even compensate me a little bit. They really need to improve their support.

I honestly can't believe on how they managed to screw up the release of the X line.

    1. They screw up the lighting indicators on the BlackWidow X Chroma
    2. The product page of the BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma lists it both as being detachable and non-detachable.
    3. Basic sleeve was listed as part of the product until they started shipping it.
    4. The damaged #7 key.
    5. Most of all, the missing brush from the Enhancement Kit.

I do hope Support gets back to me with an acceptable answer to this.

I was watching a recent unboxing video today of the BlackWidow X Chroma and it seems they're rolling out the BlackWidow X Chroma with white indicators. I ended up returning mine for that reason a few days ago as the green indicator's really did bother me.

Still not sure how they overlooked and changed so many things on this keyboard launch.

Hoping that it really is white this time. I remember watching an unboxing video a week or two ago and the light seemed white on the video but when I contacted the creator, he mentioned that it was green.

Did Razer compensate you in any way for the issue?

Yeah it certainly did look 100% white in the video, it's not in English or I'd ask him. Razer simply refunded my money, I told them my main issue was with the green indicator's and the cable routing system was causing the braided cable to peel with just a few days of use. I might purchase it again in the future but I'm not 100% certain at the moment.

so the braided cable is peeling off? i guess their products is not really consistent :slightly_sad: it is not happpening with my BWXUltimate lucky. good thing they refunded your KB. did you asked for it or not?
