I wound up ordering one from Ebay, the seller still has one more... http://www.ebay.com/itm/122740014148

I’ve had mine for a year now rocking a Titan X for my Blade (Late 2016) and the card is averaging about 80% of desktop performance which is great. Overall it has lived up to the hype in almost every way except one, USB dropouts. I’ve tried every configuration with the support team possible and even had my Core replaced but nothing has fixed it.

Never had that problem. My only complaint is that when you put the laptop to sleep, it kills the core completely. So your laptop is sleeping on battery power, and you can't use the keyboard/mouse to wake it up again. And because I keep my laptop in a stand it is annoying to pull it out, open it up, press the power button, put it back, etc.

I solved this problem by never putting the laptop to sleep when it's plugged in. Sounds like you need to monkey with some of the USB power saving settings buried deep inside the windows control panel.

    I bought the other one : P

Oh and I checked to make sure it wasn't a "manufacture refurbished". some folks on there love to say its new but happens to be refurbished. I can't wait for it to come in. I'm waiting later this month on the 1070 TI to come out and that's what I'll be stocking it with.

After all this time I seemed to have fixed it, I went out and grabbed a new longer USB-C (TB) cable and just like that problem solved. Probably just ended up with a faulty cable, can't believe I didn't think of swapping it out earlier.

Yeah would be nice to see the Core manage power for charging devices and waking the laptop etc, seems like a real missed opportunity.

I don't trust ebay. Been burned more than once.

Waiting also the core to be available again, @razer did you finish with v2?;) The competitors which are copying the cores idea even expanded their products, and one has already even placed 1080 on their small form enclosure. Well, none of them has good design in my taste.

Huh, I did not know they made 40gbps cables in longer lengths but apparently now they do, this is great news!

Agreed on design and especially construction. The Razer core is worth every penny. The big brands (apple, dell, etc) should be taking notes with this one.

Yeah I wanted to wait for a v2 model but I have this RBS that I can't do to much with, so I pulled the trigger and I'll just make the most of it. It should be coming in within the week, and I'll purchase the 1070 TI when that comes out in a few weeks.

I trust Ebay to a certain extent. I've had lots of transactions and never have been burned. Only a couple of times I've needed to resolve issues and those were handled promptly. You just have to go by certain guidelines when buying an item.

    - Sellers transaction history ( how many sells)
    - Ratings from total sells (shows how reputable they are to community)
    - comparison prices/return policies from seller
    - Last but not least, make sure you have all possible questions, answered from seller or on product page.

Ebay always has buyers protection, so you are protected. So just make sure you do your research, if you decide to go this route again.

Why would they make another version? Is TB4 a thing now?

This one getting an nvidia P2000 :cool_:

I’m just guessing since it’s out of stock every where , and i think in US, Razer only sells the refurbished one. Meanwhile stealth without it only ordinary UCPU ultrabook...well with chroma lightning;) It would “went out of the rail” what it supposed to be meant if they don’t make it anymore or bring the V2 Core.
I think we won’t see TB4 with 80gb, in the near future TB3 40gb bandwidth is also technology for 4K output and 4K isn’t yet standard in TV and PC gaming, maybe it would come if 4K is being standard and 8K is like 4k condition now.

Would be cool if TB4 was a thing but no..

Given the pattern of how Razer has made laptops or other things..they are great about listening to their loyal fans. Where the complaints come from and how they can approve their product. Sometimes they make another version with these improvements and even upgrading the product. Given the issues that the Razer Core has had for a good amount of the users, there could be a chance of that v2!

I was one of them who was willing to wait, but I've had this RBS just over 3 months now without really having the chance to game on it. So I decided on a whim to buy one when I saw it available New and not refurbished. So of course there is a chance they won't make another but they have made strides to making their product right especially if it was one that sold fast with a chance of selling a 2nd wave just as fast with improvements attached to it.

few things that a v2 could offer with the improvements of..

    - Bottle neck issue using the dual core motherboard on the RBS( alternative solution to this?) = 80-90% of GPU performance

    - USB ports on the core- disconnect/not recognized issues when used for any peripherals, etc. (figured updates would solve?)

    - Lower performance when using the screen on the laptop vs external monitor ( Not sure if there is anyway around this).

    - Using USB on laptop will also cause issues because of the TB3 using the motherboard for all its power. ( If there is a fix for this, although I know you can use a USB hub..)

Maybe you can help me understand your issues... what bottleneck? I am seeing pretty close to the 40gbps transfer rate. I guess maybe if you are using it for games, there could be an issue with texture transfers?? It's more of a latency problem than bandwidth. There are real game consoles for that. Are you seriously expecting the same bandwidth and latency as a pcie g3 x16 slot?

I haven't had any USB issue with my 1st core but if your problem is like @vetuu then try another cable? Otherwise probably the power management trying to put them to sleep. I have a blackwidow, mamba, and focusrite scarlett 2i2 plugged into the core at all times.

Using the laptop screen with the core's GPU seems silly to me because the only reason I want the core is to be able to use more screens... I think you can set the laptop screen to keep using the integrated graphics even with external monitors being run through the core.

As I mentioned above the only thing I think this device is really missing, just because my old thinkpad w520's dock had one, is a power button. I question the necessity of the lights but they don't hurt anything. There are worse design bugaboos to be hung up on in the IT world.

I assumed they were out of stock because Razer just really, really, REALLY, sucks at retail. I've bought two laptops from razer store and when I saw that I could just buy one from amazon and not have to deal with fedex 'home shipping' when practically everything I've bought from them has shipped to a business address and consequently taken weeks to arrive... we have our own fedex account we should be able to use...or having to pay customs duty on a product (just a laptop charger) shipped directly from china... they should just give up completely and let amazon, best buy, microsoft, etc take care of it.

Yeah, I jumped at the chance at getting my last razer from amazon. Ordered in the afternoon and arrived the next morning, no tax, no shipping fee, no BS.

Hell, they can't even keep tee shirts in stock. lol.

Well its not "my" issues until I have the core in my hands (about a week). Bottleneck..hmm

    https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/572254-will-a-dual-core-i7-6500u-bottleneck-a-high-end-gpu/

    It's a Dual-Core...
Of course there is going to be a bottleneck, ever with the given 40gps transfer as its supposed to do.
Oh and I guess you missed the part me mentioning gaming.." I was one of them who was willing to wait, but I've had this RBS just over 3 months now without really having the chance to game on it". Then your conclusion is " there are consoles for that". Oh boy... thats what the Razer core is for.. why else would you use it?

Because you dont have issues with the usb, doesn't mean no one else does..

Then why would using the actual monitor screen be "silly" and not an external monitor. Maybe its your opinion? ever look up the razer core promos and see how its only the RBS and core for the most part when it came out. its the idea of how it was supposed to be used. Everythign I brought up is in conjunction with that very setup. I brought the external screen up because choice is a great thing and would love to see that It could keep up with an external monitor for performance. Although as I said.. "not sure if there is a way around this".

Hi @Min-Liang Tan , is it still valid on V2 for Blade users? Here in EU it would cost €599 (if still v1 price tag, hope it would be also v2 price;)) . I know you have good design and materials on the Core, but the double price from competitors eGPU, should be revised imo, at least for Blade users.

Surfer, did you ever receive yours? Mine never shipped and in the meanwhile, ebay banned the user. The good news is the v2 did become available from the razer store so I can go ahead and order that (not sure what the difference is, I guess I could compare between this and my old one??)

I was able to cancel when I received wind of the v2. I'll be purchasing this v2 in the next couple days. Now as far as difference between the v1 and v2..

They were able to rework the I/O ports which should be a world of difference in the sense of using the ports. On the v1, you might have seen read about the ports giving issue when used. Dropped signals, disconnects, etc. So that should be fixed.
Part of the I/O rework has dedicated lines thats supposed to help with the drop (10-20% from V1) in performance from GPU. We'll see if that is the case but thats my understanding from others. I'm not to sure.

Another is the fact they made the V2 a tad bit larger, not sure dimensions at the moment but it should fit just about any card on the market today as on the V1 there were some issues of a few different OC cards that were a tad bit to large but was one those cards on the list that was supposed to have fit, like a 1080 oc card from evga etc etc

I ordered my core v2 yesterday and it shipped today. Neither here nor there but I still think it's somewhat hysterical that they Fedex product direct from HK (according to tracking...) rather than warehousing somewhere in USA.

It's good news because it means they aren't using Fedex 'home delivery' anymore.

Don't get me started on ebay. :mad_:

Yeah. Ebay is a risk and another story...

I've been waiting to get to the online store to order this v2 but the website is still down..
