Razer FireFly - Lack of RGB Customization

  1. Now, ive had the firefly for a while. I honestly never even looked at it, just wanted the full RGB set, however recently ive been setting up some chroma profiles for my blackwidow, mamba and now firefly however I just now realized the lack of customization for the firefly compared to the keyboard and mouse...

You cant really set anything except the premade effects. Cant stack a static color with reactive or wave, cant define the colors for wave, its very lack luster. Disappointing.

Now yes, it was my decision to buy before doing my full research and its still a great product but from what I feel and see, its like the firefly was a try and fail for razer so they kinda gave up on it and didnt add any customization to it.

For the dev's out there who make the chroma configurations, any plans to add support for the firefly or nah?

Sorry you feel that way - while we've an open SDK that invites anyone to create lighting profiles, effects like the Audio Visualizer, and game integrations (the FireFly working with Dota 2 for example), it is ultimately determined by the lighting zones available on the product. It wouldn't be fair to compare the lighting on the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma to a BlackWidow Chroma that has a lot more lighting points to then call the Kraken 7.1 'lackluster'.

Well true that, but why would we get the Advanced Chroma Configuator for the Firefly, so we can get the most out of this 3 zones? :)

  4. Personally I feel it should be configurable lighting across the board. Now yes, with something like a kraken, there are fewer LED's, however if someone is going out of there way to buy all the chroma produces, or in my case the 3 main "desktop" products, configuration is key. If you can have 2 items that match a theme then 2 others that dont, where is the true configuration in that? I'm not mad, just disappointed in that idea that the razer team wouldn't take the time to add something like that. The code is there, its rearranging the configuration of the LED's within the program. If a SDK developer can do it, then the razer team should have it by default, even if just setting the wave colors as a start.

If I can set a "on click" action which makes a flash effect back to a alternating wave on my mouse, why cant I do that on my mousepad? Its silly to think that the mousepad was just ignored. The mouse configuration has LED segments as well. That means so does the firefly. Whats holding back from adding configuration for that as well? Again, there is more LED space on the mousepad then the mouse its self. (at least with the Mamba)

Like, with my keyboard and mouse i have a couple custom effects, however with the firefly it just sits there and doesnt match. The firefly has more LED's then the mamba too, so saying based on lighting zones, the firefly should be up there with the mamba.

The mat itself is a nice device but had i known that the customization was so "poor" in comparison to my Mamba or my Blackwidow I sure wouldn't have spent over £50 on it. As it stands I only use it on a static colour. There isn't even a option to change the colour of the wave? A bit of a cheap selling point of "16.8 Million Customizable Colour Options" I would say 168 Options.

I too feel the same way as the OP does. I feel like the Firefly could have more customization. Like, we should have the option to change the LED for the logo at the corner separately from the edge LED. I feel if the Firefly could have the same customization level as the Mamba Chroma strip lights it would be amazing. I love how the Mamba you can customize each light on each side of the strips and that bring it to a whole new level of customization. Not only the Mamba but the Naga Chroma too also lack major lighting choices and option to be considered as Chroma, it doesnt even have WAVE as an option and every other Chroma devices have WAVE....

I appreciate your reply on this and your points are valid, but do you know if there are any plans to add the advanced configurator options to the Firefly? It seems like with even mild customization. The ability to stack a reactive effect over a static color, or the ability to change the speed / colors of a wave would make this massively more versatile.

razer firefly has so many defective issue like unflat mousepad, it is beautiful design and creation but lack of essentially function. No offense, I bought razer firefly over 5 times finally I got a good condition (oh yes!)
  10. Honestly due to the lack of care Razer seems to put into the actual product, I personally feel they tried, they failed, and thus they would rather forget about it and let the people who bought one just suffer. The quality of the product for some people is pathetic, while in total the actual customization of the thing is almost nothing. There is no true customization at all. As of right now, I would suggest to anyone who actually considers buying one, not to because its not worth the price tag. I feel like they just made a flashy advert to grab peoples attention and then just let the money roll in and block out all the hate that will come from it. Razer makes great products its just this one was a complete flop and there has been no show of "sorry" for the mistake that was this mousepad. No attempt to even give the thing customization and just expecting everyone else to do it is pathetic.

Get your act together Razer. Least have the decency to reply and explain?
