As written above, did Razer announced back in June a new Micro-Console that would be ready for fall 2014? Have I lost some news or has it been forgotten? I was totally hyped for that announcement c.c

They've had so many great concept ideas, but I think Nabu has really taken over for the time being. While I'm sure there are other projects in the works and other teams that are still working hard to move forward, I think many of them have gone a bit more "back burner" until Nabu is a stable selling product on the open market.

On a similar note, though, if there's one thing I've learned hanging out around Razer|Insider, it's that should any of those great concept ideas come to life then we will be the first ones to hear about it! :)

Agreed with @kajira. The Razer Micro-console was being developed with Google if I remember correctly and annouced at I/O this year so I doubt that they will have stopped development on it. Just put to the side until the Nabu hype has gone down a bit.

Did they have any images of this concept?

They only have a single render on the press release here.

I didn't get the memo, but if this is true, I'd be really interested in a Razer Steambox.

Well technically fall 2014 still has today and Monday left. It is not out of the questions that we will see something from Razer in the next 2 days. I have been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting on this release. I would just be happy to see some features and info even if we can't get one till 2015

Yeah, a Razer designed Steam console would be awesome.

It's likely they are waiting on bit more growth from Android TV. The current Nexus Player is getting mixed reviews stemming from the OS. As it stands, Android TV still needs a bit of work. Most reviews mention that gaming on Android TV feels like more of an after thought. Since this would be the main pitch of a Razer micro-console, they would probably want to wait for a better experience before they actually produce a device. Otherwise it would be just another cookie cutter addition to an already flooded market of streaming devices. I'd rather see Razer come out with something special rather than push out a Razer branded Roku 3 with less functionality, like the Nexus Player basically is.

I myself am hoping that game stream works its way into this device. Add the HUB service and the ability to stream games from the PC to your TV on the same box you watch content on and I think you have a winner. The biggest problem with gaming on android is the interface for controls. This is where I think Razer will pick up the slack with an innovative control scheme that works from the couch for normal button mapping and some kind of touch interface. But i guess this is what I think is needed for it to be successful not necessarily what will be. If we don't get it from Razer maybe Nvidia will give us a Shield branded streamer box.

I think that a Razer console would be pretty cool, but would not hold up against X1 and PS4. I'd like one, but I doubt Razer would do one; a console would probably end up like the Steam Machine, no one really thinks about it. A regular person with no gaming experience would go with X1 or PS4 because they have been around so many years, and everyone knows what they are. Just my honest thoughts.

Actually an Android Tv - based console costs less than an xbox1 or a ps4, so as the next gen sales are not so high yet Razer should start developing this micro console and try to bring the PC gamers on the big screen.
Anyway, I think that this machine should have good technical specifications like lots of RAM, maybe the possibility to play some games in 3D (if those games support it) and stuff like that... with a huge ad campaign a customer would choose between a next gen console and this Razer Microconsole, and I think that he should choose the Android. It's more characteristic and customizable, and new!
People need original stuff, so let's give them a new concept!!!

It would be nice to see this soon. The only issue I can see is they put it on hold due to the Alienware console that was released out of no where this month. I never even heard of it until I randomly saw it sitting at a wal-mart for sale.
At a business standpoint, it would be a good idea to see how those units sell before trying to sell an item in the same market.

It looks like a Razer Mac Mini! I would die of happiness if it was the same size as one.

Actually it seems to be pretty small, like ~20 x~20x~5 cm!

Anyway, Technokat has posted a thread about "new epic announcements at CEO 2015"... maybe it will feature this stuff too? :D

Yeah I'd wait until CES which is right around the corner. I'm sure Razer's android box will be there in full force
