This is personally a big drawback for me from buying such a high-end device.
From what I've read, the phone is 8mm thick, and I would say, an Audio Jack can maximaly take 5mm,however I understand, that it's not so easy to cram so much things in such a tiny am,ount of space and keep it well cooled and stuff.
Add that all major Phone manufacturers are taking away the Audio Jack, however for a "true audiophile device"
It doesn't make a lot of sense not to include an Audio Jack.
I would really wish for a Razer phone V2 / Premium featuring an audio Jack and maybe RGB:smirk::smirk:
    What are your thoughts?

it's possible if they put the audio jack then there will no dual speaker on that phone... this dual speaker which makes the different the other phone....

  3. For me, no headphone jack does not make sense in such a big phone, big bezzels, no waterproofing, great audio system.

I wish they would have made it a 6"+ screen.
I was considering the pixel 2 xl and was upset about the 1000$ crap and following suit of apple with no headphone jack. But then I realized the last time I used a wired headphone was maybe 6 months ago when I was charging my bluetooth headphones.. :|
So in reality, I don't use it that much. I purposely bought over the ear headphones for better sound than earbuds.

I think the specs of the phone heavily outweigh the negative of no headphone jack.

It comes with a USB-C to Headphone Jack with an apparently good DAC inside.
I think you won't miss the headphone jack.

I won't miss it at all. I really don't get what the fuss is about. You plug the adapter into the headphones and really what is the difference? Its gonna get jammed into your pocket anyways. Honestly, I think the adapter is gonna take a brute of the force instead of the little jack shorting out like they always do from being bent and pulled or whatever else in your pocket. I'd rather replace the shorted jack then wreck my millionth pair if $100 headphones. It looks a little stupid but oh well. That would only be if it we're on a table or something.

I'm curious as to if they will design and eventually ship the phone with new USB-C headphones.

I won't miss the audio-jack. It's bad anyway to charge your phone while playing games/doing activities on it.

I still prefer the audio jack in devices. I guess I still haven't adapted to the newer phones yet but I think the Razer Phone was intended to be for gaming? Honestly, it doesn't seem like a phone you would use on a daily basis for keeping up with people and texting and the such so for its design, I do get why they wouldn't put an audio jack in it. Still, I never really considered buying it in the first place but if I did, that headphone jack is a deal breaker.

I voted audio jack. I grew up with that technology and I have a dozen headphones.

Sony has been making phones for years with stereo front facing speakers and they always have an audio jack.
They just try to push the bluetooth headphones to the market. Apple started it and there is probably a consesus among other companies as they seem to follow suit.

Adding up to the thread, like it or not wireless is not as good as wired and for that reason i still like to use my wired headphones on my phone. They are also safer when i go to run, I haven't used any adapter but i'm pretty sure it won't hold like an audio jack will when i am running.

Ya, I agree with this as well. I like knowing that I'm plugged in. Even with mice, that's why I only use deathadders. There's a comfort zone knowing that there is a physical connection.

I don't see how dongle would affect anything but aesthetically.

I currently own iPhone 7plus (after Note 7 was gone) and I just stuck the dongle to Hammerhead Pro and it was fine, of course until HHP died.
Now that Hammerhead has bluetooth option, I don't see any problem with that.

The lack of a headphone jack is probably the dumbest trend in smartphones lately. Especially for a phone that is trying to appeal to audiophiles. I love listening to high resolution audio and don't mind using bluetooth, but most audiophile types will scoff at this.

I really don't think this is about the space inside the phone or to push wireless head/earphones to the market.
This about the future of the 3mm jack. It is dying! We are reaching a point were the 3mm jack can't keep up with the new high quality DACs(Digital to analog converter), and with the USB-C there will be no limitation in sound quality from the phone.

Actually, real audiophiles will be glad that the sound quality can be improved.

You will still have it physically connected and you will have more room to bend the connector. Plus you wont have the common problem with the jack when it gets loose.

I don't have a problem with it. Initially I wanted my next phone to have one, but the fact they include a 24-bit USB-C DAC Adapter is a great way to alleviate the farewell to the 3.5mm headphone jack. headphone cables have length anyway.

Plus using it and charging isn't a big deal either with the super power-efficient Snapdragon 835 processor, IGZO display's ultra-low power consumption, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+ doesn't hurt either.

I think Razer made the best decisions all around. My only issue now is, when can I pre-order. I wanted to pre-order Wednesday.

I'm pretty sure this is the main reason, suddenly all the big corporations are taking such a useful and common thing and taking it Wy for no good reason.
  18. Maximusisback

    Maximusisback Well-Known Member VANGUARD

This is the main reason why it doesn't make ANY sense to not include it in this one, when the announce a 24bit DAC.

I get it,but why shouldn't you include an option like that if there is a chance,i think most of people still use wired devices.

I’m curious what IPhone Fans said on their Forum after Apple announced IPhone 7 last year.
    Wellcome to 2018;)
