I had this question on my mind for as long as I've done anything creative like YouTube, composing music, writing a text or even a school exam, sometimes you need just this one good idea but the longer you think about it the more and more you block yourself to a point where you just don't care about doing it.
Sometimes I end up with an idea, but as soon as I start with for example editing my video, the brilliant idea that I had just got worse and worse...

Ever had that feeling or something similar?
I definitely have and still do to some extent, so here are my top tips on getting good ideas for pretty much everything!
Btw. I use these techniques myself too, and that's how I got the idea to write this post!

You're a YouTuber (or basically anything that has got to do with getting ideas for the internet, even getting ideas for writing a thread like this one :D), you sit in front of your desk and think about the next or maybe first video you want to do on your YouTube channel, but you can't come up with anything so you just sit there doing nothing for hours on end feeling bad for yourself...

The number one thing you have got to do is cheer up, if you're in a bad mood your work is gonna be bad too!
If you're too down to cheer up you have got to do something completely different from what you're currently doing. Most likely you're on your computer or phone watching videos or something like that, I don't wanna force any exercise to anyone but moving is the best way to change your current move, so how about you get out of your house and go get something to eat or drink from the next store?
But I mean going as in no music, no phone, no bike or anything just going step by step enjoying some air and a change of scenery!

So you've come back? Got something good? :3
Maybe you got an idea whilst you were just walking and just thinking about god and the world, if not, don't worry!

Strangely enough the way I get the best ideas for my work is by being bored, when you're bored you want to do anything to not be bored, which normally results in you getting out your phone and looking on what Donald Trumps latest tweet is or something like that...
Next time you're waiting for the train, dying of boredom in school, or trying to go to sleep, try to just be bored and think of the most random stuff that comes to your mind, it's hard the first time you try it but you somehow have to guide your thinking of random stuff to thinking about video ideas or whatever you currently need.

    Sounds hard, right?
Don't worry though its actually really simple, because if you get even one good idea you can write it down and you will be surprised on how much you can think of on top of that!

These tips apply to stuff that doesn't have to be finished immediately, but what if you're working somewhere where things have to go fast, or you have to write a school essay that's due tomorrow and its already 4 am?

If you're on a tight schedule and have to write your text asap. this is the way to go!
You have to clear your brain out from all of that BS that was in it beforehand, the best way to do that is by grabbing a sheet of paper or just opening a text file and just write, choose one word, it can be any word and don't stop writing!
Set a timer for 10 minutes and DON'T STOP WRITING! If you lift your pen or can't write a word within 3 second you can start all over again. This should help in getting ideas!

This of course doesn't apply for if you're writing an exam for school or something that has to be written like right now, in this case the best thing you can do is the "cheering up" part that I already talked about!

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what you're writing or doing so this is as far as I can go, please write what you need this for and if this has helped you in any way, I'd like to also note that these tips come from my own experiences and help me a lot, I don't know if these will help you too...

Anyway, lots of luck and fun doing your YouTube videos and writing your texts, exams and essays!

You've been in that spot? Please tell me what it was that you were doing, and if you have some personal tips as well, was it YouTube? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
